1/2 Horsepower and 3/4 Horsepower motors for washers

Well.... The Crosley uses 139 KWH a month, that's in a MONTH...the Maytag/Norgetag with the 1/2 HP motor is rated 639 KWH a year so I always assumed it was the 3/4 HP motor that was pulling most of the power on the Crosley, guess it could be the timer or something? And no I don't run the washer...

1/2 Horsepower and 3/4 Horsepower motors for washers

How would I switch out the motors? Would it be possible to install a 1/2 Horsepower in one of these washers? The 1/2 Horsepower motors have the updated connector that plugs into the motor(whatever its called) so im not sure if there would be any way of hooking it up but next time I put the...

1/2 Horsepower and 3/4 Horsepower motors for washers

I was wondering why some washers would need a 3/4 HP motor to run properly and most only need a 1/2 HP motor or smaller? For example I have a Crosley washer in storage and it has a 3/4 HP motor, the suspension and pump are the same as in a norgetag washer but the transmission is a 100% norge...

    New Maytag top loaders!!!

Well, I thought they bought Maytag to improve the product line, not to slap a name on a Direct Drive washer, sure they were dependable but they were not anything more than a Direct Drive washer, a washer that is seen in 1 out of 2-3 homes in america! I just think they should make some kind of...

    New Maytag top loaders!!!

Oh And the soil selection knob was yet another feature created by the real Maytag, personally I don't think its fair they get to take Maytag's advertising... if they wanna use a crappy washer design with all Whirlpool parts they should come up with their own advertising instead of just being...

    New Maytag top loaders!!!

Argggghhh I have always been mad that they market Maytag appliances like they are actually made by Maytag but now I see they are also using Maytag advertising from back before they closed and they are also taking pictures of those crappy suspension rods to try and make it look like the washer...

    Lesson learned about aftermarket parts

Update on bearing I'm pretty sure its because I washed a door mat with allot of sand on it which probably made its way into the bearing/seal. And so begins the demise of the washer...i doubt it will be much longer before the bearing starts to roar and then leak at which point I will have no...

'Pilling' prob on my 1 year old today SQ 's

    Lesson learned about aftermarket parts

Not sure about warranty I bought the part off an appliance part website that may have some kind of warranty plan but there is no way im tearing the washer down again to remove the transmission and bearing/seal kit, I'll just be without a washer for a while it if fails within the next year or...

    Lesson learned about aftermarket parts

The paper that came with it said it was built in 2010 Not sure where it would have been built if the transmission wasn't put together before 2007 when Maytag closed? how could it be genuine if it wasn't assembled in Herrin or wherever the parts were assembled before Maytag closed? Maybe I don't...

    Lesson learned about aftermarket parts

Well..after putting $260 worth of parts into my Maytag Performa washer in June the parts are already starting to wear out. I purchased a transmission that came with a bearing and seal kit because the washer was no longer agitating due to a bad transmission. The new transmission is already...

Cleaning moisture sensing strips on a Whirlpool dryer

I just bought a used Whirlpool Duet dryer (Made in 2005). I am expecting it to be full of lint when I vacuum it out but I know some of you seem to think another issue with these dryers is that dryer sheets coat the moisture sensing strips on them and I was wondering if one of you could tell me...
