How are you lot finding Ariel Purclean?

Hi Mike Loved your review and pictures of Ariel Purclean. Your comments about the rinsing were really helpful too. It's interesting, isn't it, that some detergents start at nothing then froth as the water heats whilst others do the opposite. I don't think even the best bio liquid alone would...

How are you lot finding Ariel Purclean?

Ariel futur powder in the nineties - in eco packets (£6.99 for 2.5 kg or £4.39 for 1.5 kg in Sainsbugs IIRC) though you could get little squat boxes to refill if you were lucky!! Do you remember the strange dosing device made of plastic but with a sort of fabric surround? I forgave the dodgy...

    Tide Detergent in UK

Hi Alex Hello Alex, I hope that you are well. I think I have the same Tide liquid as you; regular scent HE Turbo liquid. I get it from Amazon. There is a 1-5 scale dosage system on the inside of the cap which you can use, though exercise caution! I don't think you would often need to go...

    New Lenor 'Parfum Des Secrets'

Hi Liamy - don't worry - if I see you on Crimewatch one day I will call them up and explain everything :-) I like the sound of your market stall - I would be a sucker for that. I've got a bunch of French detergents but have never even looked at OMO twice; assuming it simply to be a direct...

    New Lenor 'Parfum Des Secrets'

Picked one up I bought an Ariel liquid and am using it on a few loads right now. I can confirm it is definitely more concentrated and is now in line with Persil S+M. The dosing ball is definitely thinner and physically smaller than the previous one. It's a little less `solid' so is...

    Stripped of Royal Warrant

Was sitting in a vet's waiting room the other day whilst one of one's pussies was being investigated for abnormalities. During the somewhat mundane wait I picked up a copy of The Times to flick through. I was interested to read that Hoover have had the royal warrant removed from the brand...

    New Lenor 'Parfum Des Secrets'

Thanks very much for your response, Spoodles. Yes, I suppose that now the dosing is similar one could use the Persil balls for P/G liquid. I do think that Persil leads the way on this particular point. The `dosing ball inside the bottle' design is also, I think, very good. It's a shame to...

    New Lenor 'Parfum Des Secrets'

Spoodles, can I trouble you with a question please if you happen to see my post? You mention above that you have purchased one of the newer compact P/G liquids. Liamy has told us that the new dosing devices are revised and no longer have scrubby bits. Not one for gimmicks normally, but I have...

    Tumble Dryers

Absolutely the AEG has moisture sensors and absolutely these cause problems. However the basic timed dry Zanussi is computer controlled as opposed to a mechanical timer so also has potential for problems. Furthermore it has no progress indicator / doesn't count down which isn't ideal either...

    Tumble Dryers

OR this is a "good buy" if it's just to go in a garage or something (less electronics to go wrong) Get rid of all the lint after each load though or keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Just saying. http://https//www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/idv75/indesit-idv75--tumble-dryer

    Tumble Dryers

Hopeless for sheets, those little ones. And not so good for producing crease free garments either. If neither of these are an issue then go for it. Otherwise (click link) I think this is where my money would go right now...

    Vintage Persil 65!

Oh, apologies. You are talking in dollars *blushes*. Now let me see...what else could you import from Germany for less than a box of Persil?!!!!

    Vintage Persil 65!

Ha! What else could one import from Germany for less than a box of Persil? Possibly a nice brand new Zanussi top loader, and still have change from £500...

UK - Imported White Westinghouse combo w/d

This is just off the M1 by Leicester.....looks interesting for £50. I would love it but don't have a large enough vehicle to collect. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/washing-machine-and-drier-/142489750766?hash=item212d0d0cee:g:cE0AAOSw4HxZo-Cd

    Current detergents

I bought a box of the Tesco bio about a week ago against my better judgement but it's surpisingly good. For me, if someone asked `what does washing powder smell like'? Tesco bio would be the answer. It just smells like...err.... washing powder! A bit retro in a way? It's surpisingly economical...

60 yrs of the Hoovermatic @ Malmsbury Meet

Thanks for posting Mike and sharing the wonderful pictures. Pleased to see everybody looking well and having a good time. I had forgotten all about the Hoovermatics belching wash water on to the floor - reminded me of using me nan's when I was a nipper and getting the odd shoe full of warm...

    Outhouse refrigeration

Hi Louis Indeed - most fridge freezers seem to operate broadly in the range you quote. I've attached a link to one of the models I was considering but if you scroll down / navigate around the websie you'll see they make quite a big deal of what they call `Freezer Guard' on most of their...

    Outhouse refrigeration

sorry for confusion! I guess I used the wrong term....I don't know why I said `outhouse'! I simply refer to refrigeration / freezing outside `regular' accommodation. It seems that most appliances in the EU are designed to work from about 10c to 30/40c. I saw that in Australia the FP...

    Outhouse refrigeration

Most refrigeration products, as I understand it, are designed to operate at normal `household' temperatures and struggle when placed outside or in an unheated building. BEKO seem to be the only brand (from my research, though happy to be corrected) which state their fridge freezers can be used...

    H-axis top loading washing machines

Thanks very much for the input henene4, rolls_rapide and Louis. Unfortunately I can't find any AEG, Electrolux or Miele top loaders in the UK right now. I can't actually locate a Lindo either; it seems to be Montpellier, Hotpoint or Whirlpool. In terms of the detergent tray issue, just as an...
