And onto first repairs for the day, which is the Hoover SpinaRinse, this model has the waste water outlet arm on the top, it lifts out and swivels, inside is a flexible rubber hose attached to the pump, over time the arm connection weakens and can snap as in this case, with new arm procured Dr Hoover started the repairs..

The beauty of these machines is that they they are built on a rigid chassis to which the motor is bolted, the rest of the outer cabinet is then built with the spin can and pulley inside and then this is placed on top of the base in the factory and bolted together..

Final pic with the pulley nut undone and hose pump disconnected the base swings out of the way to get to the hose and arm inside..

The original pipe was a formed one with bends in it to take acount of the discharge arm being swung in eith direction, ie over the washer for sudz return or the sink for rinsing...for that in mind we used a new rubber type flexi hose, while not one for the purists aka either black or rubber, needs must when we need a working model, this provided the right amount of flexibility to allow it to be looped and to flex either side when moved around and up and down in the housing....

Gosh!!!

Reply #25, photo #2... the Kenwood Chefettes!

My mum had a dark blue and white one similar to/same as the right-hand model, early 1970s. She burned the motor out one year doing Christmas cake mixing.

My gran had the left-hand model, a little later in the 70s.

Mum later bought another Chefette, similar in style to the left-hand model, white with blue trim. It still gets used a couple of times a year, as a handheld for whipping cream.

And seeing the old red GPO telephone, the Hoover Junior 1334 with tools, the Kenwoods, and the Hoover Senior 612 reminded my of my childhood.

Cheers for that, muchly appreciated!

Thanks for posting Mike and sharing the wonderful pictures. Pleased to see everybody looking well and having a good time.

I had forgotten all about the Hoovermatics belching wash water on to the floor - reminded me of using me nan's when I was a nipper and getting the odd shoe full of warm Persil juice :-)

Thanks for sharing, guys ...

... 60 years of the famous Hoovermatic, yeah, that really is something !

Being a fan, myself, of the good old Hoover twinnie (most notably for me in its various north american incarnations), i can just say 'congrats' to everyone involved in that cheerful commemoration. :)

Thanks for sharing these photos Mike

A lovely record of a great weekend, you caught the appliances and indeed us all looking our best.

Mathew
