Dryer owners manuals ..... say to clean out the exhaust vent pipe all the way back to the outside once a year or more. The gunk I have gotten out of these has been a eye opener. Could not imagine what it would be like .... and the fire hazard .... if there were no lint filter!

Perhaps so Ben ..... but GM, with their appliances and automobiles used lots of parts that never got any kind of plating or coating to prevent oxidation or rust. And if the part was painted, their idea of paint was a lick and a promise with a very thin coat.   Good example of uncoated parts...
