Interesting ..... The ad says this pot "stops automatically, just at the right time. Then keeps it drinking hot till poured." Also mentions immersible. This infers that there are a couple of things going on and possibly contained in the cord. A timed sequence at start to get water boiling...

If you are worried .... about a dry top spin bearing, could you use a sealed bearing alternative?   I used this sealed top spin bearing in place of the original open style on my multimatic rebuilds. Have done 5 this way so far and they have worked out great. They are totally water resistant...

Simple .... add hot water and a half teaspoon of barkeepers friend to the mug and let set overnight. Had to do this to some bowls and mugs in the past and it works marvelously.
