Reply #61 My grandparents had the exact same Texaco hydrometer, thermometer, hygrometer on the wall above my grandpa's recliner for as long as I can remember. I always wondered why it said Texaco on the face. Now I know!

With my dad's recent passing (Oct. 26th), my Mom wants to do a non-traditional dinner. She is making lasagna, and my sisters and I will provide the sides and dessert.

All of our Tupperware is from the 1970's. It's all orange, yellow, avocado, and brown. We usually pick up pieces at estate/tag sales, and charity/thrift shops. What's with the jungle in the foyer, and all of dried floral arrangements throughout the rest of the house? The master(?) bedroom though, OY!  

When I first looked at the estate sale listing, my first thought was how absolutely fantastic it would have been to purchase the house with all of the contents intact.

I'm old school when it comes to fragrance in my dish soap and dishwasher detergent. I prefer original Dawn, and the chlorine scent of Hytron for the dishwasher. 

Forgive my ignorance, but are Philco and Frigidaire burners interchangeable? They look very similar. 

Ammonia We've used ammonia in our laundry for over 30 years with no damage to our clothing. It's very diluted in a normal wash cycle so it's very safe to use, and it's still very effective. 

Listed on FB Marketplace.    I remember our neighbor lady's 40" Philco range. Hers had square trim rings around the burners. I believe it was a late 1950's model. She also had a huge Philco chest freezer in the basement. It had a beautiful turquoise interior. Unfortunately, I was very young...
