    1970 Kenmore Washer

Sounds like either bad center post bearings or a lack of lubrication if they are still good. Basket drive clutches may be worn down so that you've got metal on metal. Hope that helps a little.

    Kenmore rubber tub stoppers

Just how crucial are these stoppers? Should they be replaced when rebuilding?

    cold galvanizing center post

I had to partially tear down my 1960 Kenmore yesterday. The center post wasn't in too bad of shape but I decided to go ahead and sanded down and painted with cold galvanizing paint by LPS. Anyone tried that? What were your results?

The KDS54 is 'home' at last

my friend bought hers new. She used it for a few years and then let it sit unused for a good 15 years or so. I acquired it and had to replace one of the hoses. Since then it's still been working just beautiful and I've had it since 1996. They don't build them like that anymore do they?

The rubber seal #17626 that goes in the agitator cap is of course NLA. What do you experts use or does it need to be replaced as standard procedure?

    Bakelite Roto-Swirl restoration

It does't seem as if it's a varnish. More like an off white cream colored wax. But it does not dry to a haze. For bumbers and trim it is supposed to last at least 3 monthss. I believe it says you can use it on rubber seals as well. Will let you know the results over time. Thank you all!

    Bakelite Roto-Swirl restoration

Has anyone tried using the auto bumper restorer on an agitator? I bought some Meguirs for black trim and bumpers. It almost acts as if it is feeding into the bakelite so to speak. Looks great so far. I've been giving it several coats. Will it last? Good idea or bad idea?

My search is on for a decent baseplate for a standard capacity machine. If the center post is in one piece I'd be interested. Thanks all!

    61 Kenmore washer

Just tore into this baby tonight and found the centerpost completely rotted thru. Has anyone tried cutting the post off and welding a new post in place? The post is very solid at the bottom. Just a thought.

    61 Kenmore Dryer - Lubriplate 89318

Hi all! I'm working on a 61 Kenmore dryer. The front skid plate bearings that support the drum are mounted in the front panel. The book says to put Lubriplate 89318 grease to the groove in the lubricating felt strip. Whirlpool no longer carries it. What was it? White lithium hi temp...
