Squeaking noise Sounds like the belt needs tightening to me, you simply undo the bolt on the motor and increase the tension in the belt by pulling the motor up until is as tight as it will go. If this doesn't work then the belt may need replacing. As for the pump, I'm not entirely certain...

Okay... Managed to get it off in the end, broke the plastic tube in the middle but all sorted now, there was a bit of crud in the tube but not a great deal, this is the low water level after cleaning it, how does this look?

Thanks guys! I had wondered if perhaps the machine wouldn't power up with the door catch broken, will order a new one and see how things go! Once we get the machine to power up, I'll worry about the suspension and any other issues that may (probably will) arise... Matt

Right... Had to stop this afternoon as a friend came over, but I'm off work again tomorrow too so I shall finish the job then! Will update on how it goes! :)

I shall bear that in mind I guessing then it's just a case of yanking the float bowl hard enough that it comes off? It feels like its connected to the tub by something inside the black rubber tube.

Thanks Gary! Thats exactly what I needed to know, have located the screws to remove the programmer, but will need a longer, slimmer screwdriver to access them. Is the float bowl the white plastic pot between the thermostats with the yellow tube running to it? If so I have removed the tube and...

Further issues... Aside from the one mentioned above, there is also the slight problem that the indicator lights appear to be wired up wrong, so they light up that the machine is washing, rinsing and heating simultaneously when it's actually on final spin, for example! The lights are not flush...

Programme selector... Here you can see one of the first issues the machine has, the timer is out of sync! The pointer should be on the Spot after G, however as you can see it is a couple of clicks out, we have worked out where the programmes are, but it would be much better if we could realign...

Programmes... Lots of them!

Option buttons... Very flexible for a machine of it's time! This model was manufactured June 1988.

Drum Love how the flash lights it up! Yes it needs a replacement door seal :)
