    LED Christmas lights

I recently swapped from traditional LED strands to Addressable strands. the color options are infinite (16.8 million-per individual bulb) and as a bonus, I can synchronize them using a controller I built.

    High efficiency Californiaquistan shower heads

sadly we are also running out of fresh water. drought conditions are increasing, and we have to make changes. using less water for laundry and showering is a fine sacrifice so that we may have water year round. if you want to complain, maybe complain about the climate crisis and how we still...

2004 Maytag Neptune TL makes clothes smell

if this is the maytag neptune TL with the 2 rotating disks, there might be a bunch of mold or residue built up behind them. run a few cycles on the longest setting with bleach, it should do a bit of good to remove the buildup.

Best dishwashing detergent in soft water

we've had great luck with cascade complete powder. filled to the halfway line in our new kitchenaid dishwasher and it cleans great & doesn't leave a film on dishes or anything. Personally I'd stay away from pods or pacs, like others have mentioned they can cause foaming issues. gel detergent is...

Top rack "only" or top rack "also"??

LG washer died - look for old direct drive?

I feel like your LG is probably pretty easy to fix. its only a few years old, might be worth doing.

    Samsungs Newest Dishwasher

interesting... so, heated circulated air drying, counter rotating arms on the bottom (sounds like that thermador thing or whatever that had the bearings on the second wash arm tube so they could rotate independently) and nothing much else.

1 Year Later with new KitchenAid kitchen

from what I've heard, white film = too much detergent (esp if you rinse dishes) or you need to use rinse aid.

I wonder if the generic detergent is plugging some of the holes on the microfilter and taking a while to dissolve/dislodge from the filter? the motor rpm wouldn't change significantly and the flow might decrease barely enough to prevent the arm from turning.

seems like theres a lot of water spraying out of the upper wash arm mount, but I also wonder if the pac is somehow fouling the pump, IE not dissolving fully or something. have you tried normal powder or gel yet to see if the symptom continues? or maybe run a cycle with no detergent?

    New Dishwasher

this must be the filter counterpart to the KDTM/Microfiltration models. very cool!

1 Year Later with new KitchenAid kitchen

Bad news, I went to take a load out of ours last night, and the 3rd rack stuck. after I took it off of its slides, both the slides fell into the dishwasher :(... It looks like it is missing the tub nuts to hold the slides on, and the tub is even bent inwards on the left side :/... guess we'll be...

It looks like most of whirlpool models have the new sump design but are still using the manual clean filter.

Our 604 finally got installed the other day, and after 3 loads I'm already blown away by its performance. Rice, guacamole, and burnt on residue is no match for this dishwasher, even on the middle rack. the top rack is amazing, and its insanely quiet. No complaints, I'll eventually make a post...

If Forced To Choose Only One Modern Major Appliance

Honestly, tough decision between a dishwasher and a washing machine, though I think washing machine beats out the dishwasher. Haven't had a dishwasher since january and have had to hand wash dishes every day, but thats manageable I feel compared to handwashing clothes & sheets & the lot.

very exciting to see you're happy with it, I'm getting the same model soon. excited to see how it will deal with egg residue on our pans, something our old point voyager couldn't touch...

    New Dishwasher ordered

It'll be interesting to see how this wash system handles APF. We have one arriving soon so I'll be sure to investigate. Also looking forward to seeing how it handles baked on foods & egg residue, both things that my point voyager couldn't handle.
