New Dishwasher

So, I had to cancel my Miele order that I made in February as the shipping date kept getting pushed back. Instead I went with a Kitchenaid KDFE204kps. I’ve attached some pictures. These manual filter machines look to be redesigned since the last manual filter machines. I’ve just used Cascade powder (2 tablespoons in main wash and 1 tablespoon in the pre wash) and Finish Jet Dry. I set it to normal with sani-rinse to help keep the filter clean and thus far everything has come out spotless. The programming seems superb. I counted 3 prewashes before it got to the main wash, eliminating the chance of anything getting stained by red sauce during the long main wash. I was a little worried about the 3rd rack for silverware, because the spray arm is smaller than the Miele’s spray arm, but thus far even old peanut butter has been cleaned completely off. I don’t use the basket. I use that space for large bowls or pots and pans. I’ve only had it for two weeks, but I’m very satisfied thus far.

this must be the filter counterpart to the KDTM/Microfiltration models. very cool!

i have this model and its pretty good in term of cleaning and you will not even notice when its on doing a cycle

Yes, it's the top of the filter. I have a WP with a filter and it looks different. That's why I'd like to see the entire thing.

Very nice! Whirlpool has a very solid platform in this new generation of dishwashers. About a year ago I parted out a Whirlpool 750 model that is similar in build to your machine. It was a beyond repair damage in shipping that I got for 90% off. The door was crushed in at the corner, but the racks, arms, pump system were all in perfect shape. Seeing as how just racks can run $200 and higher, I figured $75 was more than worth having replacement parts that would fit my KitchenAid 604, and I get the added fun of being able to swap the wash arms if I ever want to change it up. I actually really like the Whirlpool's arm design, with the flatter profile and the angular shaping along the center. There's a sort of Z zigzag that seems like an unintentional callback to the Thunderbolt arm of the PowerClean and Voyager era.

I'll post the pictures I took during the process. It looks like you have the nicer motor in yours than the magnet pump that's in the WP.

Andrew, congrats! You got an amazing deal on you parts machine. I agree this platform looks to be much more solid than the last one. Interesting that they put a different motor in the Kitchenaid on this platform. In the global wash machines didn't the Whirlpools use the same motors as the Kitchenaids?

Peter, yes I love the front control machines! It gives me a little bit of the old-school feel.

That looks like a Global Wash System filter. Is your filter placement offset to the right of the machine?

Yes, it is offset. And I believe it's the global wash system. It's 2 years old, model WDT730PAHZ. Build quality is alright but it washes fabulously.

I forgot to mention that like vintage dishwashers when it start as you will see or hear in the video it do a purge to remove excess water located in the filter
