    Maytag Dishwasher MDB8959SKB

Im eyeing one of the new kitchenaids too. our 2007 kitchenaid/wp point voyager is starting to leave water in the sump at the end of the cycle (to the point of it being above the intake grate) and I'm not sure how to repair it.

    New washer blues

general rule of thumb that I've heard: stay away from samsung, and stay away from LG if you're looking at anything other than laundry and maybe dishwashing.

    Maytag Dishwasher MDB8959SKB

does the maytag have a spinning tube? I thought it was a stationary one, but i suppose spinning does make more sense.

Opinions on Dishwasher High Temp Wash/Sanitize

i think those samsungs use a knockoff of whirlpools point voyager design. have you tried taking the filter and screen off and checking the disposal mechanism for a blockage? if they're still using the same pump intake design its not uncommon to see most of the holes blocked with seeds or other...

GE dryer turns off after 10 mins

what year is the dryer? sounds like when my maytag dryer's thermostat failed and it was turning off on high temperature limit

My new LG 4000 series washer and dryer

yeah, last winter it complained to us about not getting enough hot water during the clean washer cycle. turns out it was cold enough that we had to run the faucet for a period to make sure the washer got hot water.

    The price of eggs

likewise, we've always had a garden. never had to use herbicide or pesticide. We get some horse manure compost from a friend of ours in march and turn it into the preexisting soil already in the garden. seems to work pretty good, given the tomatos are ~6 feet tall.

    The price of eggs

also, the article isn't about the long term effects of GMOs on weeds. GMOs dont spread between different species of plant. in the article, the specific GMO plant was made with resistance to a pesticide, and the weed in question naturally evolved a resistance to said pesticide in a shorter time...

    The price of eggs

so they made a GMO plant to resist the pesticide, and then the weeds developed a resistance too? sounds like the usage of pesticide should be reconsidered, not GMO.

Let's Wash in the Unimatic and Pulsamatic at the Same Time

wow, that pulsamatic is pretty interesting. I'd love to see a head to head competition with stained white bath towels to see which one gets them cleaner!

    Shopping for new washer

I'd stay away from that gimmicky agitator thing. removeable agitator? why would you want that? it would be something that gets used like once ever and then never again

    new fridge advice

I'd stay away from LG and samsung fridges. the LG's are known to have compressor issues, and samsungs have issues with the defrost drainage, among other things. whirlpool/maytag/kitchenaid are good, and ge was good, idk about now.

    Shopping for new washer

my lg WM3900 handles bulky items like comforters with ease. I've even put a large rubber backed area rug in it a few times and it did fine. I'd like to see a speed queen even begin to turn over a rug. our LG also rinses beautifully and I rarely have to add a second rinse, thought I do sometimes...

yes, the kitchenaid is a Direct drive.

    Kenmore elite catalyst

the direct drives I'd assume are pretty violent on low water levels. my previous washer, a norgetag would violently splash water if you filled it anything below medium, coating the lid in a thin layer of suds...

    LG Front Load Washer

Looks like the pre-wash dispenser is cold, main wash dispenser is hot and cold, fabric softener is warm (couldn't verify, but would make sense) and bleach/spray rinse is cold. hence the 3 cold and 1 hot valves. am not sure how they run the fabric softener dispenser though it might just be hot...

Safest brand stackable Washer/dryer to buy

We've loved our front load LG. we've had it for roughly a year now and no issues with mold, smells, mildew, or cleaning performance. it just cleans *everything*. I've even thrown a rug in it to see if it could handle bulkier items and it worked great.
