I'm thinking about purchasing this dishwasher and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with it. Its basic design appears to be identical to higher end Kitchenaid models. Thoughts?

The BEST performer on the market if you hate rinsing dishes like I do. My brother had the new model, front control without the third rack. It has, like this one Maytag’s food chopper with a food filter for the best of both worlds. The water is continually filtered while food particles are broken up and flushed out during the drain cycle. My Maytag is 5 years old and is still going strong. I don’t rinse anything… I use Cascade Platinum Pods and either the Automatic Cycle or Powerblast cycle. Another plus, your dishwasher is made in America by an American company.

I would double-check but I think the sprayers on the top rack of the Maytag do not rotate like in the Kitchenaid.
David is correct in his mention about the 3rd rack sprayers are different between the Maytag and the KitchenAid. the Maytag only has one rotating tube to cover the two rows of mugs and glasses as well as the flatware/long utensils caddy on the right had side of the rack. KitchenAid has two separate rotating tubes to cover it all. Also, the filtering/"grinding" systems are pretty much the same between the Maytag and the KitchenAid. It's simply Maytag's attempt at a marketing differentiator between the two brands. They both also have the same larger debris catching cup at the bottom of the tub. I'm willing to bet you the parts diagrams//replacement items are the same between the two brands for the pump and filtering/grinding.

Bill, I would suggest you go look in person at both the Maytag & KitcheAid with the Flex Rack and check out the two different water distribution methods for that Flex Rack per the specific brand. I cannot believe that Maytag video shows a stable water distribution for that third rack.

The 3rd rack spray tube on the Whirlpool and Maytag models are stationary, but the rack itself is shaped differently as well. The KitchenAids, such as my 604 model, have the dual rotating spray tubes and a left side shaped for mugs, with the middle (right of the jets) angled for tall glasses, but bowls and containers can be laid flat here as well because of the tube that runs directly beneath. The 3rd rack of the Whirlpool/Maytag version have the left side flattened, for bowls, utensils, but the middle section seems to be only designed to hold mugs or short glasses, no tall drinking glasses like on the KA version.

I initially wanted a Kitchenaid but they are scarce as hen's teeth! I think I'll wait for the right one. My current DW isn't a stellar performer, but it does an adequate job most of the time. I really miss my old Bosch (which are rather scarce as well) but I thought I might go with a new Kitchenaid/Maytag because of the wash system. I've also been looking at LG. I'll continue to think, watch, and wait! Thanks everyone for chiming in!
Im eyeing one of the new kitchenaids too. our 2007 kitchenaid/wp point voyager is starting to leave water in the sump at the end of the cycle (to the point of it being above the intake grate) and I'm not sure how to repair it.

I would LOVE this maytag
Mine is a little over 7 years old. No issues. But I will say, I hate the TOP rack..I'm used to dealing with it.......but I just hate one side being lower than the other. Level would be best.
I wonder if right now would be a BAD time to buy an appliance with so much catch-up work being done.
