    1971 Maytag Porta-Washer M0D. A50

we use this sort of stuff https://superiorbands.com/material-handling/polycord/ to make belts at my robotics club. you cut it and join it with a special iron, though i believe a heat gun or soldering iron could work too. it looks very similar to the old belt, albeit not as crusty. it can be...

What Is Your Preferred Detergent of Choice?

ultralux ditto on the vinegar. you'd think it would leave clothes smelling like vinegar but no - just a nice fresh odor, maybe a hint of detergent fragrance. we use it when washing towels.

    new maytag washer in action

It's a little bit hard to see what's going on in the video. do you think you could shine a flashlight into the tub while filming? I'm glad you got a working washer! hopefully it cleans well and lasts you a decent amount of time.

its official will be going with replacement

its a shame that consumer reports is almost entirely paywalled. It would also be really nice if stores had functional demo units that you could do a load in to see how it handled your laundry, though I do see why that isn't really a thing currently.

    Borax! Who’s still using ?

What exactly does it do anyways? I've used it when we have a box (after doing tie dye IIRC) but never really noticed a difference. does it help deodorize?

READ THIS before you buy a New LG Front load washer. LG's New Scam

top of the active topics list. I think this is being a bit overblown, the bearings should last the life of the machine, which is likely designed to be roughly 15-20 years ish. if cared for properly (fabric softener not overused/not used at all, powder detergent & hot water used often, clean...

    Front Load Wash Time

for my LG normal loads take around 35-40 minutes without any options. we don't use heavy duty all too often but I think it adds roughly 30 minutes to the wash portion and an extra rinse or two. on ours it also uses more agressive wash actions.

    High efficiency Californiaquistan shower heads

agreed. put the solar farms & stuff in the D E S E R T, and put the agriculture where it rains. It makes a whole lot more sense. as for desalination plants, they're kinda bad? They use a ton of energy, and while they do produce drinkable water they also discharge highly concentrated brine back...

if speed queen made dishwashers as well as washer and dryers what style do you they would have

what is it with speed queen and not having heaters? none of their washers have one either...

    LG 3900 problem

hmm, Yeah that isn't good. it sounds like it is likely a power supply/control board issue judging by the fact that it will not turn on. LG washers have a small protection board inline with the power cord before it connects to the control board, so it is possible that this was the source of the...

    LG Front Load Washer

I think our LG's cooldown is 5 minutes only, no matter the cycle. the cats love it, but laundry can be quite warm still after the dryer turns off.

    LG Front Load Washer

the steam option works really well. I think the issue with dryer sheets/fabric softener is that it coats the sensors and causes the dryer to percieve the clothes as dry before they actually are dry. we've never use either fabric softener or dryer sheets. the scents are too strong and honestly...

    New GE Commercial Washer

it looks like any bog standard non washplate GE washer, with commercial styling. guarantee thats the only difference, just like with the maytag "commercial" washer which is a VMW with a few different parts and commercial styling.

    I NEED HELP

I noticed the same thing! it was so sudsy it was causing the pump to cavitate. We're using trader joes dishwasher powder and it seems to work fairly well. filling both main wash and pre wash about 1/2 to 2/3rds full. still trying to wean my family off pre-rinsing. gladly we never had suds coming...

    I NEED HELP

yeah, Up until recently we were solely using pods because our detergent dispenser door had its latch snap off. I was able to get a replacement door 3d printed and reused the spring and the gasket from the old door. So thats probably why there was still some goop in the sump. as for the spray...

    I NEED HELP

those gaps would have normally had 2 sets of tines that can fold down. the parts that hold the tines in place are made out of the same crappy plastic that the silverware tray is, and they crumbled to bits about 2 years ago in our kitchenaid, right around the same time as the silverware tray...

    I NEED HELP

the silverware tray on ours disintegrated and filled the sump with pieces of plastic. the upper wash arm is in the process of doing the same, and we're debating whether to repair or to get a new kitchenaid.

More Woes With Whirlpool 6620 Front-loading Washer: 2nd Machine Also A Dud

According to NSF specifications, the final rinse temp on a sanitize cycle must reach 150 F or higher. i don't think dishwashers can advertise a sanitize cycle if the temperature is 120 f max.

    I NEED HELP

I've had to do this repair to mine a few times. its fairly easy. the pump inlet to the macerator has small holes, and often ours would get plugged with seeds or other hard food matter. in the future, i'd recommend switching away from tabs and using powder detergent, being sure to fill both the...
