for my LG normal loads take around 35-40 minutes without any options. we don't use heavy duty all too often but I think it adds roughly 30 minutes to the wash portion and an extra rinse or two. on ours it also uses more agressive wash actions.

I think our LG's cooldown is 5 minutes only, no matter the cycle. the cats love it, but laundry can be quite warm still after the dryer turns off.

the steam option works really well. I think the issue with dryer sheets/fabric softener is that it coats the sensors and causes the dryer to percieve the clothes as dry before they actually are dry. we've never use either fabric softener or dryer sheets. the scents are too strong and honestly...

I noticed the same thing! it was so sudsy it was causing the pump to cavitate. those gaps would have normally had 2 sets of tines that can fold down. the parts that hold the tines in place are made out of the same crappy plastic that the silverware tray is, and they crumbled to bits about 2 years ago in our kitchenaid, right around the same time as the silverware tray...

the silverware tray on ours disintegrated and filled the sump with pieces of plastic. the upper wash arm is in the process of doing the same, and we're debating whether to repair or to get a new kitchenaid.

According to NSF specifications, the final rinse temp on a sanitize cycle must reach 150 F or higher. i don't think dishwashers can advertise a sanitize cycle if the temperature is 120 f max.
