Ariel for me. Works a treat with whites on a 60 wash. But I wouldn't say no to Persil either, it's my second choice.

I bet too. I actually found the non bio ones better than the bio & had a more pleasant scent. Not worth the full price though & would choose the power or liquid anyday.

Are they the same formula, just sold under different brands & fragrances? For example, is Ariel Biological Powder the same as Ultra Tide Original?

That's what I find weird about it but I ordered from an American Food Store that was .co.uk so they must save had it cheaper than the Gain I originally wanted,

I didn't even know until I opened the box & it wasn't Gain. It was a £1 cheaper too for the same size bottle.

Even though I ordered Gain it was out of stock & I got sent this as a substitute. Tried it on a general load at 40c, filled the cap to line 1. The liquid itself smells a lot nicer than UK Ariel Clean & Compact, the Tide to me smells like the Fresh Lenor/Downy Unstoppables (blue ones)...

I did notice that when I browsed Amazon.com, you can get: Swiffer dusters/wet jet refills, Candles, Air Fresheners, Cleaning liquid etc.

Lenor Ruby Jasmine is a regular fragrance. Bold Peony & Rose doesn't have a matching Lenor, I'm presuming you meant when it used to advertise 'A touch of Lenor freshness' but it doesn't anymore. In Wilko they had Bold, Lenor & the Unstoppables on offer side by side. Scent overload if you ask me.

What Lenor fabric conditioners are marketed to be used with Bold? As far as I can see none of them are because none of the Bold detergents have the same scent as Lenors apart from the Sleep Sensations one.

I've no problem with Bold, I use the Blue one & the Purple one. The scent lasts through the dryer which I like & Bold can be bought cheaply, 20 wash liquitabs for £2.97 at Asda or £3 for the 24 wash liquid.

Soda Crystals helps soften water so you need less detergent. They also help remove stains too & prevent lime scale build up in the washing machine. Borax works the same as Soda Crystals except Borax deodorises the laundry too...

Looks like I might have to go back to fast washes then...*sigh*

ozzie908 the fast cycles on my machine are synthetics cycles - would that be okay? I've only started using the A59' which is a cottons cycle so I guess I'll have to go back to the 39 minute wash. I know some member have said that using the shortest cycle possible helps to reduce fading.

Nope. It used to be great on black clothes too but the new version seems to fade them. I must be using a high temperature but I only use a 40c wash.

I mostly use Daz powder though, which has a 5%-15% bleach content & generally it's good on coloured laundry.

It's just that fading is more noticeable on black clothes. I've washed a relatively new pair of black trousers twice & already the seams are turning grey.
