    Sunbeam Waffle maker help

3 1/2 I use 3 1/2 and heat the waffle iron open to prevent carbonized grease building on the grids.  Gluten free mixes nee help with things like lecitin, zanthan gum and I have good luck making my own flour with ground oatmeal.  It doesn't brown well because of the ingredient mix, not the...

    For The Love of Pete

The Once Hated We bought the 95 series Duet and hated it it for not balancing.  After the third call to repair had a heart to heart with Albert Lee who insisted Whirlpool replace the board on the 4th visit.  It works likes a champ if you like 2 hour cycle times and no water.

    Stove Explodes

Newer I had a GE Profile smooth top with convection, new in 2007. The single best range I have ever owned and my son and his family now use it. It's convection bake is superb and cleans flawlessly. I bought a new Maytag for the Bellevue house and I am not pleased with it's oven performance on...

    Haier top load washer

2007 In China in 2007 when visiting friends in Shanghai they had a GE branded Haier that was quite amazing. It had a thick rigid agitator that looked like a surgilator, held a lot of clothes and did a good job. It was noisy but no worse than a GE top loader of American ilk in that time...

    Stove Explodes

Environmental Impact I am totally in agreement with Sandy regarding the cost and environmental impact of cleaning ovens manually. Unless I have loaded the oven with junk store finds that are filthy there isn't an odor. Just a normal oven cleaning uses 2 hours and no smell or smoke.

    Stove Explodes

More Recent Dadoes best describes the properties of the glass and stress in self cleaning ovens. The shattered glass stories I have been involved with all are ranges made in recent years. I dropped water on the glass door of my 90's GE drop in range in the days of "artisan" bread baking when...

    Stove Explodes

Common Thread Following the Pyrex glass faults we are finding this happening in more than just Pyrex. Same thing happened to a friend with Kenmore (Frigidaire) range. She was roasting the turkey when the glass ruptured and showered the kitchen. The heat wasn't an issue because she was only...

    KA double oven problem

Its Toast Even today the problem exists when a Whirlpool oven is wrapped in a prom dress to masquerade as Kitchenaid it cannot breathe and over heats in the cleaning cycle frying the board. A known defect, a refusal to redesign and arrogance continues to this day. I wouldn't buy a Kitchenaid...

    Revisiting my "clicking Kenmore"

Stop The Madness Not today but with in the year we need to find Sarah a large capacity machine that will help her keep up with her mountains of laundry the family creates. Her Kenmore is a smaller capacity model and when she visited this summer and used my old Maytag she was impressed with the...
