Just out of curiosity what makes distilled water "bad&#3 I cannot give a scientific answer to that. I don't think it's bad, it just is not appropriate in some applications. We once used a vaporizer when our son was sick and it would not create much steam with the distilled water I had on hand...

    Ironers and Irons

The ElnaPress... I love mine for some tasks, but after one go at a man's dress shirt, I leave it to the professional laundry. I don't have the patience to master the positioning. Takes forever to heat up, too. On the other hand, for fusing interfacing and pressing dinner napkins...

Need Advice on Vintage Iron Care, Please

Distilled water . . . . . . often will not steam properly, depending on the iron. If iron and other crud are a problem with the tap water, there is always bottled spring water sold by the gallon, on the shelf next to distilled. It is basically tap water that has been filtered at various...

    Ironers and Irons

It took forever for the thing to generate steam for just one I know what you mean, and then it takes forever to cool down for emptying the tank. I own that same exact Rowenta steam generator iron and don't use it often, unless I have a mountain of ironing. The sole plate does not get very...

Breakfast for Dinner - Making Corn Pancakes with Bacon

Corn cakes . . . yummmy! Kevin, yours look wonderful. Our Southern version is much plainer and normally served with BBQ. Just add butter & salt and we're good to go. Fried potatoes & onions . . . more yummm! I grew up on those. And they had to be cooked in a cast iron skillet.

    STPP

And TSP is not the same as STPP. Linked below is a very good explanation of STPP (and how it differs from TSP). It really is easy to get the two confused, but this articled helps sort it all out. I started adding STPP to our laundry, even though our water leans toward softer end of the...

    Foaming Dishwasher HELP!

We use the "High Temp Wash" on the Normal cycle. Are you sure it is actually heating up the water? If it's not working, this might be why the gelpacs are not dissolving. Just a guess. A candy or meat thermometer can be used to check the temp of the wash water.

Repair of a Panasonic Inverter Microwave

I am impressed. Those of you who know how to make these repairs are truly fortunate. The rest of us have to toss the dead microwaves to the landfill and buy a new one. We recently bought a Panasonic inverter microwave and really like it. I hope it lasts ten ears, given the build quality of...

most American's do not know how to use a FL washer... Probably 99.9% of us Americans grew up with and only know top load washers. Manufacturers did nothing to educate the general public on how to properly use one, or any HE machine, nor has our government, who is either encouraging or...
