Clogged Drains? Mom used to use Bold 3 before switching to Tide. But when the drain for the washer clogged, a friend suggested that dry detergents clogged drains, and the switch to liquid was made. I remain skeptical of that claim to this day, maintaining that those dry granules dissolve, and...

"Ya know, Every Now and Then"....(in my best Tina Turner Voice)

Just Incredible! Not a spec of oil or corrosion under there! Simply gorgeous! I would have saved the boxes though. :) Tipped gently on their sides to open the bottom flaps, pull out slightly, then right the machine, and slide the intact box off.

    E2lp gear case lockup

I would think that any of these machines with an unknown history should be disassembled, cleaned, and refilled with good, fresh gear lube. This way they might be saved from further damage. A gear box could be full of old water that had gotten in, and it may run just fine. For a while... New...

    Maytag RR Dishwasher problems

New DW Spending $2,000 on the high quality old machine would probably be cheaper than buying a new one. And then another, and another, and another... :)

    1972 Sears/Kenmore Gas Combination washer/dryer

Fascination I have had a fascination with the idea of combination washer / dryers for as long as I can remember! Wish that one was closer.

One from the Ogden 'project list' - 1947 Bendix coming back to life

Brazed I was going to suggest that the cracked valve could be brazed, making it almost as good as new. Keith

MW Signature Vintage teal portable dishwasher - $300 (Asheville)

"Signature" I think he's basing his pricing strategy on the presence of "Signature" on the machine. In fancy Cursive none the less!! How can you resist THAT?!? LOL!

    '84 Maytag LA712 Relieves '84 Whirlpool LA5530XKN2 of Duty

A Hard Fought Battle But I got *most* of these hard-as-a-rock deposits removed. I was able to scrape them off the porcelain enamel with a sharp chisel (not used as a chisel though!). The wire wheel and the chisel left slight metal deposits, which the CLR easily removed. Getting those hard...

Torn Shorts, Confusion, and Rock Hard Deposits! It has been very interesting reading all of your replies! It has a feel sort of like a Chevy vs Ford discussion lol. :) All in good fun, of course, but this is the source of my confusion! :O As one who has spend his entire life with Kenmore /...

White A806 Maytag laundry washing machine - $75 (Bedford)

Matching Dryer? I believe that I have a DE806 dryer, built in '69. Looks like a match?

A Humble Presentation of New Additions...

Clarification Sometimes I struggle to convey thoughts in print. I should have stated that as- they said mine is an '82 model, built in '84. Not like cars, for instance, where they change them every year. I believe that they said '84 was the last year for my model. So yours also being built in...

A Humble Presentation of New Additions...

1984 Whirlpool I'm told by the experts here that my Whirlpool was built in '84, but is an '82 model. Indeed mine does look different than yours. I believe that they said my dryer was built in '87. It looks much more like your machine. Keith

    '84 Maytag LA712 Relieves '84 Whirlpool LA5530XKN2 of Duty

Laundry is stacking up! I finally got a chance to pick up some CLR and work on the Maytag tonight. I'm very glad I removed the agitator, as was recommended. Wow, there are some tough deposits under there! They smell unmistakably like a campfire?? I don't want to scratch or otherwise...

    '84 Maytag LA712 Relieves '84 Whirlpool LA5530XKN2 of Duty

This will be my first time placing the Maytag in service. It was free to me from friends. I repaired the timer, then stored the machine. Those former owners had evidently been unaware of the presence of the lint filter, and thus had never cleaned it, so it STUNK when I first got it wet! I have...

I was watching over the air So unfortunately I had no way to back up and check. But it definitely had the same proportions and general appearance as the one in the ad. And of course that color. :0
