New Vechicle - Own Or Lease?

Leasing = renting Leasing is the same thing as renting. I have leased a number of cars in the past quite successfully. I am an ideal leasing candidate; I'm "easy" on a car, I take care of it, and don't have a passel of chaps tearing things up and spilling ice cream all over the upholstery, etc...

Persil Detergent now available at Shaws/Star Market

Bought some Power Pearls (large bottle) at Kroger today (Columbia, SC). Yeah, the cap was not tightened. It's a powdered detergent in a liquid detergent bottle. The return drain hole is too small for the powder to easily return to the bottle should it get turned upside down or on it's side. I do...

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

I haven't yet discharged the battery to the point where the range extender needs to kick in..I'm hoping it's sufficiently "muffled". I don't see any sort of tailpipe for the thing...I don't know how it exhausts...or where.  I'm sure the Germans have that figured out.   I AM leasing this car...

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

I don't know about ugly; but it's definitely not bland in the way that a Chevy Volt or Nissan Leaf is. I shopped them as well, and they struck me as rather "meh" in the design department. Mercedes also builds an electric B series. But, if I'm spending 50 large on a commuter car, I'd rather have...

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

I took delivery of a new, 2014 BMW i3 (plug-in electric car) this past week. It was a rather belated 50th birthday present to myself. It's an absolute BLAST to drive, and it's sold as strictly as a commuter or "city" car. The car features an all-electric range (depending on how it's driven) of...

    What is this Refer madness?!?

God, this sounds like a wind up for an "Emily Litella" report on  Weekend Update on the Saturday Night Live of 30 years ago.  Imagine her sitting next to an exasperated Jane Curtin going on about "...What is this refer madness I'm hearing so much about?"

    New Miele Tabs. Less is....less!

Bought some new Miele Tabs today, and discovered that they've changed the packaging.  The 3 boxes are flatter and longer than the previous boxes, because the tabs are now stacked in a single layer, versus the double layer in packages of yore, and you get...wait for it......4 less tabs per box...

    Cool Way to Seperate Eggs

My husband is going to make some of his famous double chocolate pudding for dinner with guests tonight, and that will require separating 6 eggs. I happen to have a water bottle in the fridge. Mind you, I don't cook, but I'll see if I can impress him shortly with my newly acquired skill!

    Sears Ultra Plus

Bought 2 boxes of the Ultra Plus with Fabric Softener (125 loads) for $7.88 each with in-store pickup. The website indicated the store only had 4 boxes of this left in stock. My local Sears was OUT of the regular (non-softener) and the Free versions. I'd sooner have dental surgery than go...

    HAs Mercedes lost the Plot?

    Cascade Platinum Pacs??? Look...

This will (eventually) even affect my favorite acrylic ware, Tervis Tumblers. Tervis does carry a lifetime waranty on their tumblers, and I send them back to Florida, and they send me new ones. I liken it more to the Miele's high temps (@ 150F)than the Miele Tabs.

Anyone in the Miele 19XX club like yours truly with a W1930 will always benefit from a repair manual. I so happen to have a PDF version of such a thing if anyone needs to borrow one.

    Tide HE + STPP mixing ratio - 4:1 ?

I purchased the 80 load box (7 lbs) of Tide HE (regular formula), and using the included green plastic measure, I mixed 4 (reasonably level) scoops of Tide to 1 scoop of TSPP in another container. Of course, I won't be using the green Tide scoop for measuring a laundry load of mixture. I use a...

Bosch Dishwasher Greasy filters - fixed!!!

Yeah, I've got to chime in that the filter on my Miele (Premiere Plus) STAYS greasy, despite 150F washes and Miele tabs. I've run Finish dishwasher cleaner through it, and that seemed to mollify the grease (at 170F), but a few standard washes later it's back to schmutz.  Before anyone asks or...
