    Shopping for new washer

It's been a few months with the new washer.... I ended up replacing my KA with a GE (GTW725BSN1WS) washer I bought from Costco in January 2022. The KA just sort of gave up on me and I couldn't deal with it anymore. Mom herniated her back and I was exhausted from helping her out and working all...

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

It's here! I got my wringer washer on Friday, and, I tested it out in my garage. The agitation works and the motor sounds good, and, it doesn't leak (see my link). I do think the wringer could work better, it was re-assembled oddly, but I believe I have it worked out. My only issue is the...

Can anyone recommend a new washer under $700 that is reasonably well built and easy to work on?

Anything is better than going to a laundromat, especially during a pandemic. I personally like the videos I've seen on the Amana and it was the washer my serviceman recommended to me when I asked. (Not sure why exactly). Good luck!

Living in Amana/Speedqueen hell - need some help from someone who has worked on them

Sounds like your machine that died is the exact same model my mother had. She is happy with the GE she bought, but she also knows it won't last 25 years like that Amana/Raytheon she had. I agree with you about having no electronics and relying on manual switches. I don't think you're going to...

Can anyone recommend a new washer under $700 that is reasonably well built and easy to work on?

Buy used You can get better cleaning and more cycle options if you buy used. The trick is finding a used appliance store that will stand behind their sale. There are a lot of resources online about how to find a good, used machine. I would recommend watching YouTube videos from Lorian...

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

Maytag N2 $50.00 I'm agreeing with almost everything that is suggested. Chicago is just too far away for me to road trip (and rent a truck to haul it home), but the N2 almost mint condition is nice. The seller is going to arrange delivery of the $50 Maytag N2 to me for free. They really want...

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

Yeah, that Model 30 washer is not possible. The seller even told me his overhaul was mostly cosmetic and encouraged me to keep looking. Thank you for the links.

Apologies, I meant for the 6th picture to be this one.

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

$600 Maytag Model 30 working Found this locally listed. The seller says they refurbished it 25 years ago, replaced the hose and the casters. What it's got going for it? Well, it runs. It looks clean. It's not far away. And, I can roll it in and out of a storage closet. Although, at...

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

Thank you Laundress for your reply. After consideration of your points, I've decided I'm gonna try and stick with porcelain Maytags. This is primarily because they seem to be the most common and were "the Caddy" of washers as you put it. They do come up on FB marketplace from time to time...

Wringer Washer - Finding and Buying considerations

I've got my eye out on two wringer washers that will be up for auction soon. I have a couple of concerns before purchasing. 1. Parts - can they be fixed? Who might be able to fix things? I'm not handy. Although, I am willing to try if I can find good instruction. 2. Size - how heavy are...

    What is this wringer washer?

Maytag wringer - up for auction I think this one looks very promising. There is a basket of laundry next to it, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but does it look well cared for in good repair? I know it's impossible to say for certain, this could be staged, but that hose looks like it's good.

    What is this wringer washer?

Thoughts on buying at an auction I don't have a pickup, I have a four-door Honda Civic. If I buy the SQ wringer washer, how easy is it to haul? Can I lay it on its side? Would it hurt the motor, assuming it works? How heavy are they? Do I need to recruit a buddy?

The Speed Queen TR series was Redesigned/Reprogrammed?

Speed Queen TR7 I had a TR7 in my house for 1 week. It came out of the box with a broken pump. The store said it had to be exchanged for a different make and model because of production shortages. The store's actions were beyond shady so I returned the unit and the dryer that was on order. I...

    What is this wringer washer?

Same auction - double tub I'll pass on this one, but it's the same auction. Is it a Dexter? Maybe it's not a wringer washer at all? No wringer.

    Shopping for Mom

It's better than I thought. I took my bedsheets to Mom's this morning to try out her new GE. I thought it did a good job cleaning, although I question the rinse cycle because I could smell the detergent still when it was done. This probably isn't the washer's fault, but the different make of...

    What is this wringer washer?

Still hunting for a clean, working, wringer washer on wheels. This is up for auction in a few weeks, but I cannot tell what exactly it is. Does anyone recognize it? I only want to know so I can determine if parts are still around.

    Shopping for Mom

She's happy (so far). Mom's used her new GE today, it was installed yesterday. The service guys showed her how to operate it too. They checked her detergent, etc. She started a load, waited for it to fill with water and balance out, then put it on pause to add her detergent. She did see the...

    Shopping for Mom

I've tried to get her to into something better, believe me. The GE she's looking at on Costco.com is $680.00 but that includes the delivery, the install, and the haul-away of the old Amana. The Costco price is a bit less than what she can get at Home Depot when you add in the additional service...
