Is it worth making mayonnaise at home?

Hi Bill, Here is a copy of (in her hand writing) my 95 year old mother in laws recipe for mayonnaise. She has made this for herself as long as I have known her. 50 years at least. We make it for our sandwiches on occasion. It is probably best to go and purchase a jar of your favorite brand for...

I have somewhere a Sheaffer fountain pen my dad gave to me at my 8th grade graduation. I used that pen for many years writing Christmas, birthday, thank you and other cards. I thought it was pretty cool. Back then people commented on my handwriting. Now it has deteriorated. Probably 20 years...

    Let's Talk About Cottage Cheese!

When I grew up it seemed like there was always cottage cheese and fruit on the table for breakfast and dinner. Mostly canned peaches unless she had fresh fruit from neighbors trees. Mom bought Knudsen large curd in the blue container. I am sure because dad liked it. I would sometimes talk her in...

    Our new kitchen

Wow! That kitchen is awesome. We had a kitchen like that in the early 70's when we lived in San Francisco in a flat. Good idea how you are setting up the DW. The library is so much what we would like to do. Enjoy every minute of being there and the memories this house brings with it. Dano

    Electric shaver recommendations/opinions?

After years trying electric shavers and multi blade razors (even Harrys) I found my old Gillette adjustable razor and went to Walmart to get blades. Only double edge was a off the wall name and bought them. Tried it out and it worked pretty well. It does take your beard a while to get used to...

Vinegar is our best friend here in Oregon. We are on community wells and it pushes up very hard water. We descale every month or so, coffee pot, kettle and pots and pans that water boils in like a egg poacher. Looking in the washer we seldom see suds. We do use a britta. No automatic ice...

    Cooked Buttercream Frosting

Both of those sound good and look easy. Next time I make a chocolate cake I will try one. I like to change things up to be different. Today I made a carrot cake. I haven't made on in quite a while. My wife has been leaving hints. I used sour cream in the frosting instead of cream cheese. I...
