Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Corned beef is in the '45 GE roaster right now.  We're having seven guests for dinner.

Makings for grasshoppers are on the bar, next to the "rocket ship" Waring Blendor.

Dishes just finished in the Miele.

We're ready to party!

I planned on making the traditional stuff, stopped at one of our major stores found they were sold out of turnips and parsnips- didn't really want the parsnips, but I like turnips in the boiled dinner.  Will make it sometime next week along with some fresh rye bread.

Lamb stew was more traditional in the day...

as the beef generally went to the English "landlords". But we do corned beef in the "Crock Watcher" along with the usual vegs for the holiday, though, as we love it. Stock up and freeze it while it's cheap right after the holiday. With McNamara, O'Brien, Fitzgerald, and McNeill family history, the Guinness and Jameson flowed freely as well. "Edmund Fitzgerald" Porter from Great Lakes Brewery is a daily standby...
Slainte Mhath!

Here's as "American" St. Patrick's Day or just'--, period!' as mine could get:

Mind you, Killian's Irish Red is the competitor to the Guinness "Ireland's traditional leading brand", that I put that whole bottle of in the blender, just to make myself wish I saved a few last drops of to suck out of that bottle, that I managed to take out of a cold 6-pack of at the beer store & per its policy put the remainder of on the counter...

Just to this morning when it opened again, grab one more remaining "room temperature" bottle of so I can refrigerate it to make tonight's "Killian's red float" out of...

And another choice & in order to make a "traditional green drink" will be a "Not Your Father's" Mountain Ale--which I will hopefully make tonight's Night Cap & End of St. Paddy's Day weekend with--another Vanilla Kroger Party Pail, bought after work, in tow, as well!--that I can also post some more pics of...!

Nope, I like it,

but no one else does. I don't get it. How can you like a Ruben and not corned beef with cabbage and red potatoes?
So, our red meat meal this week was a nice Mexican seasoned lean chuck roast, braised at 325 F. in my French ceramic dutch oven for 2.5 hours.
We had blue corn taco's, fajit's, black beans in brown rice, Christmas green tomatillo and red sauces.

Sy Ginsberg's Corned Beef here:

By far the best corned beef I've used. It's made by United Meat and Deli in Detroit. Costco carries it around St. Pat's.
Cooked pot roast style for 5 hours and carved thick cut. Added baby carrots and Klondike Rose potatoes for the last hour.
Baked Cabbage, wedges in corning pan with butter, pepper and CB juice bake 1 hr.
Fresh baked rolls and butter.

actually in Ireland...

Murphy's is the main competitor to Guinness, but even so only in certain areas, principally Cork, where it'[s brewed... Killian's is more of an American phenomenon than in Ireland. In 90% of the country it's Guinness all the way.

"United Meat & Deli"

or "Ginsberg" as we referred to it back in the day was sold to Grobbel last year.
We always carried it at Farmer Jack, and local Kroger stores may still.
Sy Ginsberg's recipe is on their web page.
