Attn. Australian members ... Hotpoint wringer washers

Dating the advertisement I agree with Eddie. It would be surprising to see such things manufactured during wartime. The date is really hard to read, so I'm wondering if there's any chance it's actually after 1945. For example, were full colour printed ads in Women's Weekly by 1945, or did...

Melbourne Australia - swap on offer

I'm in the South-East ... Hi Charlie, I'm in Malvern East, over near Chadstone. I don't know if there's anybody else in the Melbourne area who might also be interested in seeing your collection. Cheers, Nick

Melbourne Australia - swap on offer

Would love to, but ... I'm in Melbourne too, Charlie, but I don't have room for a washing machine collection. I'd love to see your machines at some point if you're open to having somebody admire them all. A little wash-in-down-under perhaps ... Cheers, Nick

Vulcan Dishlex dishwasher from the 1980s - rinse aid dispenser?

Happy to help I'm glad the information we've both provided has been useful. I'm not sure how the detergent dispenser lid is held when it's closed. I'm pretty sure a solenoid engages briefly to open it a few clicks into the Normal cycle. Perhaps that raises a central pin in the lid assembly...

Vulcan Dishlex dishwasher from the 1980s - rinse aid dispenser?

What a lovely machine! VacBear is pretty much on target with his comments. If this is like earlier Dishlex machines of that era, the round lower left unit should unscrew and come out, leaving an opening for rinse aid to be poured in. You should find the reservoir cap has a clear plastic...

Rare TOL Hoover 585 washing machine

Memories indeed ... I remember family friends having one in that series, though not the TOL, in the mid 70's. The decor of that kichen with its orange and brown hues is certainly from that period. If only we could see the dishwasher in the picture too! :-)

    Naco washing machine

9 pounds/4 kilograms That's according to the brochure I've attached (I think I downloaded this brochure form the archives here on automaticwasher.org. I hope it's not a problem to re-post it here) The Australian version that my aunt (and later ourselves) had was cosmetically a little bit...

    Naco washing machine

#53 I have no idea why it got replaced. I would have been six at the time. It's possible it came with the house my aunt and uncle purchased, so had perhaps seen a good life before they came along. They were a family of three kids under eight too, so lots of washing. I guess the idea of a...

    Naco washing machine

I know this machine ... My aunt had one of these in the fifties. It definitely had a red hopper lid/cover. I think the cabinet was white. It was replaced by a Bendix Gyromatic in about 1962 Congratulations on a fantastic restoration!

Full video: 1967 Australian made Stampco Fluid Dive

Fascinating It seems odd that something would be built for distribution only in Victoria, when there's an entire country of homes in need of a washing machine. I wonder what their logic was there ...

Wigwag coils from USA for whirlpool voltage

Fascinating story Thanks, Gizmo. That was really interesting. I'd heard solar was presenting challenges to the network and now I have a better overall understanding of the whole thing, not just the solar angle

    Hoover 735 gearbox

Wiring Diagram Hi Mitch, I thought the wiring diagram was attached to the inside of the back panel. I can't remember the exact nature of the fault. It was something to do with the thermostat or some backup thermostat failing in such a way that power continued to be applied to the heater...
