My Wash-House, it's contents and it's most recent additions!

Dryer - top row, r/h side ... What's the dryer on the top row, r/h side of the room. It looks like the first dryer my mother had back in the late 60's. It was badged as "New World" here in Australia. I can't remember where it was made though.

    "Easy" Horizontal Axis machine

1960's "Choice"? That magazine would be fascinating. I remember reading "Choice" in the early 1970's and being fascinated by all the pictures, charts and comparisons. If there are any washing machine tests from that era, that make great reading if you were able to post them here. Nick

Bendix automatic Home Washer MODEL D (511)

Norge? Did anybody else see the Norge Double-Capacity front loader in the POD and think there was more than a passing similarity between it and the model-D here? Does anybody know anything about the histories of each model? Was there some sort of licencing deal in one or other direction...

Bendix automatic Home Washer MODEL D (511)

Bendix gearbox oil We had a newer Bendix than this one in the early '60s. I think the service man used automatic transmission fluid (as you would in a car) when it was serviced. Unfortunately I have no idea if I'm right or not though ... perhaps my comment will strike a chord with somebody...

    Impressions: Bosch S620 Dishwasher

Single-Pump Simpson Unfortunately the machine was left in a previous home about 13 years ago. It was still running strong though. It had a single motor with two impellers. The larger one at the top of the shaft drove the water for the wash cabinet itself, while the smaller, lower one drove...

    Impressions: Bosch S620 Dishwasher

It's a Simpson too ... I always suspected my "made in Germany" Simpson dishwasher was a Bosch underneath the skin. I bought mine in 1989 and it's internal racking was identical with what you've shown here. The sump arrangement was slightly (though not significantly) different. Does yours...

    Indesits first Dishwasher

In Oz I knew of them in 1980 in Australia, and they were front loading. Can't tell you when they started manufacture though.

    My vintage washroom,almost finished!

Which brand? What a great space! You'll have lots of fun down there. What brand is the machine second from the end on the left of the last photo? The one with the orange pilot light next to the two control dials on the lefthand side of the machine? It looks like Bosch from the early '70s...

    Bendix 7133 Autowasher Deluxe Electronic

Be-yewtiful What wonderful machines those were! My mum had the single-dial model for about 23 years. I got a white dual-dial around 1986 and it's still being used by my previous partner. They had sensible water levels and were whisper quiet, even at max spin. I hope you get many years of...

    Simpson Tumble Washer

Bosch, I think ... I agree with Brisnat. The control panel is very much like the dishwashers of that period, which were made in Germany. They were fantastic! (Bias here: I had one and loved it to pieces). That picture also shows my first tumble drier, bought at a reduced price at a warehouse...

    STPP in Australia

Does anybody know where I can source STPP in Australia? Is it available at all? Do any of our local products contain it, or do you need to buy it as a separate product?

    Frivolous Extravagance

Wouldn't the back story be interesting? I'd love to know how a machine localised for Australia happened to be in a second-hand store in Seattle. Any ideas? And I'm assuming it was Australian made (or at least assembled). Does it say on the identification plate?

Roy had a huge fight with Beryl sometime after July 1956!

My guess ... ... is a shocking spin cycle. That solenoid looks more like the drain or spin actuator, rather than something that would be at the top of the machine. It's really hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but I think it's the spin solenoid because I think we're looking at the...

WOW!!!! LOOK WHAT'S NEW FOR 1957 IN 2010

Absolutely fabulous! Words fail me. That is such a brilliant piece of restoration work and a total delight to read about. Congratulations on a job very, very well done!

    BROCKE-Washer

I don't think it's Asko Whilst I agree the concept of no bellows and a door is usually associated with Asko/ASEA, as Darren pointed out, the drum looks different. It also seems to tumble much more intensely early in the cycle than an Asko (mine, at least). It also goes straight into spin...

Where I can Posting some of my colection?

Fantastic! What a wonderful collection. I particularly noticed the first photo of the Bosch 475 Intervallsystem machine. The control panel reminded me instantly of an early Simpson dishwasher control panel family friends had early in the 1970's. I'm sure the machine was made in Germany, so...

Cascade phosphate free is getting TERRIBLE reviews by customers!

STPP? Is that a product name? What's in it? I haven't heard of it here in Australia, so was just wondering.

Front Loading Washing at it Finest

Oh, those memories ... I grew up with a version of this machine ... it was just wonderful at age six to sit on the floor and watch the clothes sloshing around.
