Quite original These babies are very original, the boot, the connections, everything.....therefore I'm afraid to plug them in and shock myself or burn the whole damned house down. There is a red wire coming from the back of the washer, looks like someone added a ground. The only problem I've...

I'm Expecting 56 Year Old Twins Twins

Well, my very first vintage washer and dryer are on their way from Mobile, AL to Houston, TX and they should be here tomorrow. So I wanted to ask you all what tips and "heads-ups" you may have. They are a 1955 Westinghouse pair, unfortunately it wasn't possible to get the shipping bolts in...

Need Shipping Help Near Mobile, AL

Renting a truck I've actually priced out the cost of renting a truck, plus gas, plus possibly staying a night somewhere since I'd have to bring someone to help me and it's a wash. The cost for the truck rental alone is $250.

Microship Microship actually said no to doing the shipment for me as they felt the logistics wouldn't work. What's going on with that Bendix?

Need Shipping Help Near Mobile, AL

Well the company did give me a refund after I gave them the what for, and the area that the machines are in were not affected by the tornados - this reaction was totally unrelated. The machines are in Daphne, and my contacts over there said they were just a-ok. They were flabbergasted by the...

Need Shipping Help Near Mobile, AL

Hey All! I've purchased a 1955 Westinghouse set and had shippers all arranged to pick them up Friday and deliver them on Monday. Well long story short Southeastern Freight cursed out the storage company who was holding the machines, demanded cash upon pickup (even though they'd already been...

    Moving Vintage Machines

Thanks guys! It's a 1955 model and they should arrive on Monday. I have a feeling I'll be asking lots of questions such as "how to fix this" and "how to jerry-rig" that. lol

    Moving Vintage Machines

Damnit. Yeah it's a Laundromat, but I was just going to hire Microship to pick it up and bring it to me. I'd have no way of doing all that, but I also don't want to shell out cash for machines that'll get busted in transit.

    Moving Vintage Machines

Does anyone have any tips for moving vintage machines - there's a Westinghouse set that I'm either going to pick up or have moved this Saturday. Also, any tips on moving companies? I called up MicroShip and the cost was a bit on my high end. Any help would be appreciated :-)

    Holy Cow!

You won't believe this Someone from the forum here just emailed me about a 1955 Westinghouse set only 500 miles from me, I hope this isn't too good to be true.

    Holy Cow!

Ok ok, lemme check into what it's going to cost, I should be able to find this out Monday. If it's beyond my budget then I'll let you know post haste

    Holy Cow!

Bendixmark I'm still interested since it's in great shape, might be something fun to have parked next to my daily driver, since I don't use my dryer. What would it entail getting it shipped down to Houston? This would be my first vintage machine....I also assume all yall would be a wealth of...

    1957 Frigidaire set in Charcoal!

Tom, I like the way you view estate sales. I love going to them, but when the family leaves photographs up on the walls and is selling them, that's when it gets to me.

    Holy Cow!

Good point Tom....the GE combo seemed interesting only because it's a rare bird, like the Bendix Duomatic, but my heart is set on a Westinghouse, so I'll just keep looking!
