EVERYONE PLEASE READ: Help me test first draft of new Photo Posting System

Possible down side I see... Is the lack of captioning for the images. With one image per post, the post text itself can handle the image description. Also while forming this example I could not figure out how to put in an image after the first one. I made a screen cap, which will be placed in...

    Savory Oats

We were fed oatmeal as kids all the time. But it was the kind that you had to cook for several minutes, not the instant kind you see nowadays. The only oatmeal I can tolerate now is the steel-cut kind that comes in a can. I have a small slow-cooker which will make four servings overnight and...

Some New Forum Software Updates and Wish List...

Because this is the Wish List... Something I want from time to time is the ability to change the password I use for site login. If there already is a way, I have never been able to find it.

    Kevin?

Kevin posts his cooking videos on YouTube. I *think* there are more recent ones than last December. YouTube is down right now so cannot check.

    Hoover WDYN 9646G-80

An online friend of mine in England has the washer named above.  He complains that it takes *minutes* to unlatch the door after the cycle completes.  I wonder whether any of you are familiar with this machine and could opine on whether that is normal behaviour or indicates some malfunction?

What do you miss most about an old car...

Kevin's 64 Dodge Sure brings back memories of my teen years. This was a "parents' car" so when my group first got their licenses, a lot of the time we had those cars to use.  Can still hear the "WHEE-TEE-TEE-TEE..." of the Highland Park Hummingbird when they were firing up.

    Industrial musicals

I think this is an example of an "Industrial Musical&#34 I stumbled into it on YouTube. In addition to the cars, there are some Frigidaire appliances. Not laundry machines, but a Flair range and a dishwasher.

Anyone Have A GPS System They Love?

I have a Garmin Nuvi 255W that someone gave me years back.  Since I almost never go anywhere new, I use it to keep track of where I am on trips rather than having it route me.  In 2013 I bought a newer Garmin to get the bigger screen. It's the "LMT" variant which has lifetime maps and traffic...

That new fad - Data Processing

Firedome! I can't tell you the model, but the equipment is from Digital Equipment Corporation. (DEC) I used several of their minicomputers back in the 70s and 80s. Right now I'm looking at a bus grant continuity card from an 11/34 that I happened to save from oblivion at some point.

    My new Vornado fan.

the little Vornado I had one of these a few years back, and I liked it. Unfortunately the cat knocked it onto the floor while it was running. It landed on the blades, could not rotate for a period of some hours while I was at work, and after that would no longer spin.

Hard Drives/ External Hard Drives/ & BACK UPS

I have two of these One for work and one at home. They work *great*. As shown, it will mount either a 3.5" or a 2.5" drive in either slot. Interface is via USB-2 or eSATA. (eSATA is an extension of the real SATA interface, there is no speed penalty as with USB) The only drawback is that the...

    New Air Conditioner Time

Swamp Cooler conventional wisdom... ...says that the device can drop the incoming air temperature by 20 degrees F. I ran one for 30 years and that seems about right. So the 70F claim with 100F outside air makes me skeptical. I had recently to replace the 23 year old heat pump on my roof, and I...

The Super Market Forum on Vacuumland

Yeah, OK, but... Now that threads live forever that kind of list could become an unintelligible collection of obsolete, extinct sale offers.

    Thread Resurrection Has Arrived!

OK. I'm still learning about SQL and database throughput myself, so I can appreciate what you related.

    Thread Resurrection Has Arrived!

In your example image you show the "mark all threads as wash or as spin" just as it had appeared before. I no longer see the "spin" choice.

You say what: Pop Soda Cola or ?

I grew up in Detroit and called it "pop", as is the fashion in those parts. In 1975 I moved to St. Louis, and everybody there called it "soda". I adopted that term and still use it, much to the amusement of my siblings and cousins. In Arizona where I live now, there are so many transplants that...

What is the oldest "thing" you own in your household?

Somewhere I have an ICS textbook from 1906 called something like "How to Build a Rail-Road". (ICS means International Correspondence School)
