    Advice needed, please

@ea56 I have a low-end GE TL. It came with the house (2013), but I have no idea how old. Poly-whatever tub. Several cycles, full rinse w/spray rinse following. I am very pleased with it so far. Handles bathroom/kitchen carpets with no problems and full cleaning/rinsing. I used hot wash...

Are You Losing Your Goodlooks & Disposition? Are You Becoming A Drudge?

Too Off-Topic? Hope not! When my ex and I were dating in high school, we didn't have an awful lot of "decorum" between us. I remember nights I spent doing "our" homework while she took care of ironing those "pencil skirts" and "peter-pan collars". AND painstakingly ironing those pointy...

Are You Losing Your Goodlooks & Disposition? Are You Becoming A Drudge?

Tutorial Thank you, Launderess! I always wondered how one of those contraptions worked - I've never seen one in action. In contrast with the "theme" of the video, I have to admit I find ironing one of the most relaxing things. I could do it all day (and have!). I still do pillowcases, but I...

    Laverne and shirleys apt.

Video research I had time over the weekend so looked in on some L&S that I had DVR'd from various seasons. I didn't notice any particular "color" in the basement appliances, other than that they appeared to be deliberately worn-looking. I still think the fridge looks like a Kelvinator, though...

    Laverne and shirleys apt.

sdlee I have a LOT of L&S on my DVR, I just need to look thru them. Give me a little time. My first take on the fridge is a Kelvinator, looks an awful lot like my Aunt Mary's from circa 1941. I never noticed the stove except that it was gas and I never saw them cooking on it! "One two three...

Guess what I found at Big Lots

No Hershey's Fans? We were a Cocoa-Marsh family. My sister still has the glasses with the lion on them. I do remember Bosco as a kiddie cartoon character on early TV. To avoid starting a firestorm of hatespeak, please do your own research! Peace.

    Welcome to my new kitchen

Love that! You don't often find the black/white combo to work so nice as yours. I think the countertops tie it all in. Good cooking ahead! Garden State congrats to you.

    Zenith?

Reference? LG Electronics acquired the Zenith tradmark within the past couple of years. When I was at THD we sold air-conditioners and a couple other things marked "Zenith". Are you referring to actual bygone products here, or something more recent?

Mushroom soup... it's what's for dinner!

Chuck! Thanx for what to do with the stems. I can't believe on the East Coast anyone doesn't know what "Schkeeve" means! BTW, your recipe for stuffed cabbage (hulupki) is 99% the same as mine! I do cook mine before freezing, however. No one ever complains! -Charlie- PTcruiser51

Mushroom soup... it's what's for dinner!

Chuck! Stupid question, but after all I'm from the Garden State! 'Shroom tops or the whole thing including stems? My late husbear used to schkeeve at shroom stems. Wash and pat dry first? I've been looking for a recipe like this for years. Thanx for sharing. Can't wait to try it. -Charlie-

    Colorized Appliances

High-Key Lighting In one of my books about the show, it made mention that because it was a comedy with a lot of "action" (facial expressions, movement, props) it was necessary to have bright lighting. Anything with a gloss finish (wood furniture, ceramics, etc.) had to be coated or dusted with...

Is it too early for a Christmas tree / decorations thread?

Winter begins in mid-December. Yes, it's too early. Have a nice day.

Of dial phones, 8 tracks, VHS is the dishdrawer far behind

Available Capacity When I was at THD, we floored a couple models. Not popular, strictly because big pots wouldn't fit, let alone roasters, crockpot inserts, stockpots and the like. I think I sold three of them. One of them (Maytag) we finally ended-up taking back after numerous leakage...

    Fridge with small door-in-door?

@ The Home Depot We had the GE model on the floor for awhile, not a good seller. Factory rep said the idea of the drop-down door was so you could put glass or cereal bowl on it to fill, rather than leaving door open while you walked to table or counter and back. Clever idea, but not too popular.

    HELP!!!

What danemodsandy said And don't wait! Call around to find a humane shelter that will come out to trap feral cat. You don't want to mess around with possible rabies infection or worse! Do the right thing. If it costs $100, what difference will that make 5 years from now? You'll know in...

A former Burger Chef that's back in business serving . . . burgers!

Wow! I never made the connection when I saw the "Mad Men" episode. Burger Chef was popular in NJ for as long as it lasted. The places usually became pizza joints afterward. We also had chains "Gino's" and "Wetson's", both pretty good in their day. We still have "White Castle", but not so...

    Please help--Grease removing laundry detergent?

Lestoil I know you don't want extra steps, but sometimes it's necessary. Dab some Lestoil on the stains and let it sit overnight (or all day, depending on your laundry schedule). Run thru a short wash on the hottest setting you have. Then wash as normal with your detergent on a long cycle...

Remembering Service Stations of the Past

Tiger Tails! OMG, I had forgotten about them! Think about whose brain-fart THEY were? You slammed the tail on your gas-fill. Then drove around while it was absorbing fumes/fluid. One encounter with a stray cigarette or lit match and FOOM! I'm surprised we didn't hear more about this! Then...

We Haven't Had A Telephone Thread For A Long Time

Smithsonian Institute In the 1980s my late husbear and I took a vacation to D.C. I'm not one for sightseeing, but one day he insisted, so we went to the Smithsonian. The theme at that time was "communications". Lots of early TVs, radios, telegraph, etc. We came to one exhibit that had a big...
