    omg who is next!!!

water can be recylced But that uses a lot of energy and costs money. As for the government forcing people to buy what they don't want they havent. People want washing machines that clean their clothes, all the government want is for them to do that with less water. Top loaders haven't been...

Hotpoint 1005 Spin Dryer stopped working

Thanks for the help everyone I'm afraid I won't get a chance to have a look at it for a while, it definately does sound like the capacitor though. Will keep you posted when I get to have a look at it. Matt

    omg who is next!!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with front loaders They wash better and a lot more gently than a top loader, and CAN rinse just as well and be made to the same quality, whilst using a LOT less water and energy. I think the main problem with american models are that the wash cycles are just...

Hotpoint 1005 Spin Dryer stopped working

Hi all, You may recall that in January I bought a Hotpoint 1005 Spin Dryer, well, I went to put it on today, and it just made a buzzing sound, didn't spin. After a few attempts I got it to spin but very slowly. Now it's back to just buzzing again and not spinning at all. Does anyone know what...

    Stain on vintage tablecloth

Oxy products usually contain oxygen bleach and sometimes opt Even though they are marketed as "colour safe", they will fade colours if used over time. The odd wash or pre-treating in them won't do any harm, but repeated use will. Matt

    wish list from Germany

"Well thnk about it..if you wash it in a tiny machine, boil it to death and spin it to within an inch of it's life, it MAY just come out wrinkled. Ditto line-dry or a tiny Euro dryer." As opposed to being shredded in a top loader and having the creases fried in by a boiling hot, uni-directional...

    The BIG Question

in all honesty Front loaders are capable of washing perfectly with very little water, i.e.the water does not need to be visible when the machine is on. I do beleive that if the wash results of modern and vintage front loaders were compared, the modern ones would generally have the upper hand...

Question for the Europeans about new washers with both hot and cold water intakes

In the UK it's only in the last few years that cold fill only machines have come on the market. We moved to Germany in 2002 and were shocked to see that there was no hot fill outlet to connect our washer to. When we moved back in 2006, almost every washer on sale here was cold fill only. I was...

    Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar

well I was thinking I would put the bicarb in with the detergent, then the vinegar in the final rinse. There are 3 deep rinses between these, that should be enough to rinse the bicarb out before the vinegar is added shouldn't it? Matt

    Bicarbonate of Soda and Vinegar

Hi, I was wanting to use bicarb of soda and vinegar in my washer to remove odours, problem is I don't know how much I should use. The machine is a Hoover Ecologic front loader, with a 5kg or 11lb capacity, or I think about a 45l or 1.6 cubic foot drum. So how much do you rekon I will need? The...

The Last Machines Of Quality From Great Britain

As much as I want to like WM Hotpoints I too have to vouch for their less than desirable washing results and roughness on clothes. They do an ok job, providing things are thorougly pre-treated and pre-washed, but ours used to wear the print off t-shirts after one wash, even when turned inside...

    Ebay UK February

Love the red stripes on the panels of those exclusive models Always have personally thought the 95 seires from the 80's were much prettier than the earlier and later Hotpoints. I am right in thinking the ones which span above 1000 only actually span at top speed for 30 seconds aren't I? I...

Miele Professional WS 5425 MC 13

Thank you It would be great if you could email them to me, this is the first time I've been able to use a Miele and I was very dissappointed when I saw it wasn't working like I expected. I do know some German but I'm sure I can figure out the rest. Thanks again! Matt

Spotted Henkel Dixan in Tesco (Ireland) !!

Spee Used to be the brand of detergent available in East Germany I beleive. I think Henkel bought the name and started selling it as it is in about 1994. Matt

    Maytag A50 Question...

hmmmm only one rinse, and using the same water for each load? Thats not gonna rinse very clearly. When I do deep rinses using a spin dryer as extraction it needs between 2-4 deep rinses with fresh water per load for them to be rinsed to my satisfaction. Matt

    Guess whats coming!

has it been struggling to tumble and/or making a sparking noise for a while then? I'm tempted to offer to take the WM53 off your hands since your not very far from me. See what it needs doing. I really don't have the room but I'm sure I could manage to fit it in the cupboard, anything's better...
