Need help on a Whirlpool DD

Update Thank y’all for all the advice here. Been a busy weekend so I’ve only had time to try a few of the things suggested here. I tried standing in the tub and rocking it back and fourth as violently as I could (I’m not big, only ~130ish lbs), and I put a big heavy towel in it and put it on...

Need help on a Whirlpool DD

I’m trying to work on a 30 year old Whirlpool Direct Drive model LST6132A. The inner tub is fused to the drive block and no matter what I do I cannot get it off. I got the nut off but the tub is stuck. I tried everything I can think of. Poured hot water on it, soaked it in hot water with vinegar...

GE filter flo fabric softener dispenser

Reply #2 The WH47X43 is for the rim flo setup, so it doesn't fit on top of the filter pan. The part number for the correct dispenser is WH47X39. I have also been looking for a dispenser for a while now to no avail.

    Just bought a 1987 Maytag A512

Weekly update I was unable to get that much accomplished this weekend unfortunately. I took the base off the main cabinet and got all the gunk cleaned off of it. I decided to go ahead and replace the damper pads because they felt dry and hard as a rock. Getting those things off and all the...

    Just bought a 1987 Maytag A512

Weekly update Ok so I now have the washer completely disassembled now. The lower seal on the transmission has indeed failed, and everything under the rubber cap on the pully was completely covered in thick black grease, so that's where all the oil on the brake came from. Removing the brake was...

OEM Maytag transmission lubricant or Sta-Lube GL-4 85w-90 Awesome, thanks! How much oil do these take? In my research I found it either takes 26 fl.oz. or 34 fl.oz.

    Speed queen models —

Oil in the tub This is not a transmission failure. It is a bad tub seal, which is relatively easy to replace. You should also change the oil inside the transmission and clean it out to make sure all the water is removed, and you should always change the gasket when opening one of these up. In...

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

Awesome! If the OP doesn't want it and it's not too expensive I might take it off your hands.

Reply #6 The washer is in a heated garage and the weather has been warm recently, so that can't be causing it. Due to the amount of oil I remember seeing on the transmission pulley, I think I will go ahead and replace the lower lip seal just in case that is the problem. I just checked and they...

Is it a single speed Fabric-Matic? Yes, the A612 and up were the two speed models.

agenda driven Maytag bashers I do not at all understand how someone could be so extremely anti Maytag like that, at least not to the degree many people including myself are extremely anti modern HE. These old Maytags are fantastic and the ultimate no nonsense machines. They may not be as...

Wanted older style maytag washer control panel

Reply #6 Could you link a few of those please? I'd like to see if I could convert my 1987 A512 into a 612 or maybe even a 712.

Oh I forgot to mention that when it gets up to full speed on the spin cycle, it emits a very peculiar low pitched hum that my 1994 Maytag LAT4914 does not make. I don't know what is making this noise but I do know for sure that it is not the motor. I had thought about if it could be the bearing...

    Just bought a 1987 Maytag A512

After a few weeks of searching for a nice old washer I could fix up and hopefully make a decent profit off of, I came across a nice looking A512. Bought it a couple weeks ago with a newer Kenmore dryer for $200. Overall, it is in pretty good condition. Needs some typical maintenance and a good...

    Maytag brake assembly

Ok, so I did several loads over the weekend, some large some small. The first load, which was a full load, indexed like crazy. The next load, which had even more clothes than the first, did not index at all. And on the third load, which was a small load, again indexed like crazy. I tried...
