    1969 Malleys Whirlpool Washer

Austrailian Refrigerant Importation Sadly, R12 cars must be evacuated and recovered for importation, IIRC. Since the OP says it works great, I will assume that the system is now running on HC / Propane. Works fantastic, but illegal in many states in the US.

    1969 Malleys Whirlpool Washer

Dealer Installed Air Looks like a dealer installed (actual GM kits) 'Cool Pack' A/C unit. They were actually good units with GM parts under the hood, instead of some of cobbled up, aftermarket units. A '60 would have used the A5 compressor, which used hot gas bypass for freeze up control on...

I spy a '59 Next to the '69. Would love to know more. RHD?

Article: 100th Anniversary of Westinghouse in Mansfield

My WCI I can't recall if any of the WCI products actually said Columbus, or if they all said Dublin, OH. I checked our BOL garage unit that replaced our beloved '50 Westinghouse, but it says Dublin too. We had a MOL WCI dishwasher about the same vintage that was awful.

Article: 100th Anniversary of Westinghouse in Mansfield

WCI Columbus I believe the last thing assembled in the Columbus plant was dishwashers, but I could be wrong. I recall at least some sort of small WCI presence in the plant for many years. I recall in the strike around '69 that the name WESTINGHOUSE, that was spelled out in big letters at ground...

    The Sad End of Kenmore

So true "They really trimmed the budget and hoped Kenmore could hold the ground on its own," said Maharaj. "But most brands are living breathing organisms. They need to be nourished, nurtured and almost coddled so they can grow and thrive." I almost bought a Kenmore refrigerator in 1998 when I...

    Mexican Ariel

Another happy user We use it and love it. The strong smell (which we like) is nearly gone on clean laundry. I put the empty bag (every week or every other week) in my car as an 'air freshener'.

    automotive AC compressors

I didn't realize that was you, David! I wondered about the seal used, but never noticed the user name. Terrible getting old.... I just don't understand why I still notice and remember more than employees 20 years younger than me!

    Westinghouse Deluxe Refrigerator - 1935

Our former Westinghouse Awesome unit David! Amazing condition, especially if it didn't spend its life in a dry climate. I was sad when our 1950 Westinghouse died. Started slowly, you could hear the compressor 'coast' to a stop when turned off. If it was working properly, you could hear it stop...

    D&M "Genius" Fan Drying System

Used to own one of those miserable things too. Only thing I liked about it was the 'Water Heating' light.

The Fine Art of Television Repair

Went through the last 'TV Theory / Repair' class offered as part of the technician program at DeVry back in 1983. I thought it was a great course in applying and troubleshooting analog technology (besides my love for TV repair), but they saw the writing on the wall back then.

    Unusual Kenmore 70 series dryer

80's GM dash / instrument clusters Looks like Whirlpool poached a GM engineer that designed dash and instrument clusters.

    Potscrubber

(my) GE History @panthera: Jack destroyed an empire. GE finally said lets be the best in the 80s, only to have that go through their nose in the 90s. Very sad. +1 As a former employee, I agree wholeheartedly. Jack's divorce proceeding showed how he 'sacrificed' for the company. I'm actually...

GM Seal Retrofit The leaky GM front seals (both ceramic '62 to mid '84, & single lip mid '84+) can be successfully remedied with a double lip seal, AC-Delco 15-30948 (GM part number 2724954). GM doesn't officially recommend it to replace the ceramic, but it works fantastic (the 'bird cage' is...

Agitation speed question 2017 Speed queen and more!

The tech sheet has the exact speeds per cycle. The timer chart cam position 4 shows high speed and position 6 shows low speed functions. The tech sheet number of your machine is in the top right corner of the model / serial number sticker under the lid. This is sheet 203427 from my August 2017...

GE poly tub too. Only change in our case was the Cascade Platinum.

    Copper bottom pots and Dishwashers...

I'm 99% sure it is Cascade Platinum that we switched to very recently. We (the boss) always uses the water heater option which is really hot (timed only, no thermistor). All the 1984 vintage Revereware has been coming out like new. Makes me wonder how hard it is on the dishwasher.

432 Water Level and Overflow Protection "The added water is is run through the overfill (second) pressure switch. If the main switch is set to fill to the top, most likely it will satisfy the over fill first or at the same time as the main switch. When that happens the machine simply will not...

    Speed queen scrubbing their reviews

The lesser reviews do seem like educated consumers to me. I've been torn with the glowing reviews as to whether they are the average Joe that wouldn't know the difference, or if they are legit at all. Some of the comparisons to the older series seem odd for a consumer product. Even a bit defensive.
