    GE Front loader help needed

This is essentially the same as the one I got rid of this summer. Bearings went, I bought it on clearance from a local appliance store in 2009 so it lasted 7 years. That said it was used pretty heavily sometimes multiple loads a day and I took no special care with it. I disassembled the whole...

    ATTN fellow Speed Queen owners:

My parents have the Amana digital control model from ~2000. It was originally like $1000 and circuit city marked their appliances 50% off and I convinced my dad to purchase it, he paid about $500. It's essentially a Raytheon version of the digital Speed Queen I pictured here. They've had that...

Here the Speed Queen and the Samsung it is up against for the durability test...

if you had a choice in washer dryer brand today

I'll know in a few years Bought two new washing machines just a couple of months ago. Since I like a top loader and a front loader I got one of both. I ended up with a Speed Queen TL and the TOTL Samsung Addwash (Sears had one with a dented top for $499, otherwise I'd probably have ended up...

Over 5 Years Later, I'm Ready to Run the Unused 1962 General Electric Filter-Flo

The problem isn't young kids, I'm on the younger side, the problem is the stuff just isn't built as well nor is it built to be cost effective to repair (and I'm one to garbage pick things and try and repair them). I recently scrapped a GE front loader and Haier top loader. The GE had a bad...

    Sears suppliers getting concerned

Probably not going to happen until 2018-19. They refinanced a lot of their debt until then. They've been forecasting this every year for years. They still own hundreds of stores that weren't part of the leaseback deal as well. Kmart effectively died in the early 1990s. My dad started shopping...

Is This The New Haier/GE Offspring?

It's junk too I have one of the related models, well had, well it's actually been sitting in my driveway all summer. Absolute junk. It worked kind of OK, when it worked. Pump went out twice, then it inexplicably would not attempt to spin. I couldn't figure out why. Anyone in the Buffalo NY area...

    Kmart winding down

I think that's a tactic they use to force a buyout. They will probably end up selling it for far more than that store is worth in its current state. It's a good tactic to drum up cash. There was another in a similar position I saw on the news recently, basically they forced a buyout. They're...

ESTATE SALE COOKWARE FIND!!! ARISTO CRAFT!

Waterless Cookware I buy single pieces of these all the time at garage sales, estate sales, consignment shops etc. Aristo Craft, Lustre Craft, Health Craft, Royal Prestige, Vita Craft, Image, Chalfonte Kitchen Ensemble, Amway Saladmaster, you name it. I just picked up about 4 Vita Craft pans...

    Kmart winding down

One is closing here, probably has high shrink as a Wal-Mart that was nearby also had incredibly high shrink. Store is well stocked but kind of like a sleazy low rent Sears. Except there is a nice Sears in a giant well traveled mall that is literally directly across the street. Unless you need...

    Kmart winding down

Fast Eddie keeps finding ways to get them money. Even if it's his own. If the stores aren't doing well why does he keep trying to sustain them? Does he think he'll stumble across some magic formula that makes them return to profitability? Seems like they're trying different things. They've...

It's a grass cuttin SOB, well sort of

I have a 2008ish version of this tractor as a Craftsman YTS4000. It seems each successive year they get cheaper and cheaper. The deck used to be a lot heavier with more reinforcement. I really don't use the tractor a lot, primarily to bag leaves as I have the 3 bin bagger it's maybe got 50hrs on...

New old stock Mercury hand mixer

Found this at a thrift store. Thought it was pretty cool.

What washing machines do you have and what were your previous ones and what were they like?

Previous: these both went this summer GE front loader circa 2008. Haier HE top loader circa 2012. With the GE the clothes never seemed to smell very clean. Took a long time to do a load. Unbalanced very easily, Haier was actually a decent machine when it worked. It was a non agitator top...

Can anyone help me to identify model and year of Maytag Wringer washer

My grandparents have the exact same one. Still works. They still use it.

    Kmart winding down

Sears negotiated clever leases back in the day or found ways to own that real estate. It's basically ship the merchandise in put in 3 associates for the store and turn the list on for some of these stores and you've got 100k+ square feet of selling space. They don't seem to be having issues...

What is the worst dishwasher you've ever owned?

GE top button control circa 2011 or so 3rd dishwasher in the house since I bought it in 2009. There was some BOTL Amana in it when I bought the house. Racks were rusting. Used it a month or two and tossed it. I bought some BOTL Kenmore on clearance cost next to nothing think I spent $185 on...

    Samsung Addwash WF50K7500AV delivered today

I'd definitely have to watch each cycle or perhaps put a plug in my basin before letting it drain a cycle (it's double wide so this wouldn't be a big deal). So far clothes seem to come out very clean compared to some front loaders I've used. I'll take a picture later.

    Samsung Addwash WF50K7500AV delivered today

I'm assuming the allergen cycle or heavy duty cycle on the largest cycle size probably does, unless the allergen cycle combines the sanitize with the steam, in which case it would use more electricity. The least is probably the Super Speed cycle which takes far less time to go through...

    Scored a 1.5 Haier unit for $75!

Well... Good Luck... Zero confidence in them... My Haier went through two pumps, purchased in 2010 and was used as a backup/extra. It currently sits in my Driveway and I am unsure if I should bother again or toss it. Hardly used, two pumps. I got it cheap but still it worked for 4 years at...
