Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Medical conditions? Accidents? I'm curious. Can you elaborate in the off topic section of the forum?

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Turn down the water heater or temper the DW line. Also select Pots and Pans or Heavy Wash to default to the next higher level that gives you extra wash time. What was the model # of the Power Clean that did that? Early model Power Cleans tended to have a short main wash is the thermal hold was...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

You do have a point, Kitchen-Aids do handle extreme Bob Loads significantly better. However IMO when it comes to handling and flushing away food soils and food bits Power Clean is simply the best ever created.

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

I've experimented with two. IIRC KDS-18 and a latter Hobart timer dial energy saver version. There is tremendous volume and pressure making up for the short main wash yes, but you also need time to soak and scour away certain food soils away. A spray not matter how powerful or redundant can not...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Right, but you had a KDI-17a. KDI-17a could get away without pre-rinsing to a significant degree. These dishwashers could filter out and flush soil, in good amounts. Their weak point was a short main wash, not 100% ideal self cleaning of the particle filter, and some models had poor(ish) water...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Only because people pre-rinsed before, during and after the Power Clean. When tall tubs came along many people did not realize their dishwasher couldn't clean because dishes were already going in predominately clean. Timeless classics do not have an expiration date. The logic displayed on this...

When I get a chance I'll take pics and upload them. But in the time being I encourage you to look at the grates on a Power Clean vs a tall tub dishwashers.

My list of vintage washer dryer to chose from if i ever have to go vintage for x reason if can be found

Go for a vintage direct drive, they are plentiful and probably the best performers. I wish they still made direct drives today.

    Kenmore Toast set.

Thanks :) I am not 100% sure about the belt drives but IIRC they did a spray rinse as well.

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

The food you're showing does not leave sizable bits behind like a casserole, salad, shepherds pie or omelet would. It just shoes liquid remnants of food and a small particles.

I would guess the spin spray was to get residual detergent and suds out of the outter tub, machine drain lines and pump. Spraying the clothes directly would have greatly improved rinsing performance however. If Whirlpool engineered a water fall they could make an HE spin spray machine. With...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Your pictures show food poure, liquid food residue, and food stains, but none show food bits. I think it depends what that soil is and what we are calling a garbage disposal IMO. While the Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module could not handle bones, it could handle some peas, beans, bacon...

    Kenmore Toast set.

Sturdy and powerful. Things get washed and spun out. I had the pre VMW design washer design in the early 2000s. The one the solenoid actuated brake band and clutch. Found it behind a dumpster and took the hair pin out of the pump. One of the best washers I had. Cleaned, impossible to suds lock...

    Kenmore Toast set.

Nice! :) I wish they offered a full line of 24 inch and compact direct drives with precision parts.

    Kenmore Toast set.

Rear control version of this would be so nice. Only thing I would change is having a water fall fill flume.

Most likely 45 minutes to do the all the switching to sectionalize and isolate the faulted section of feeder and re-feed the healthy segments. The repair itself for a pole thats totally down is typically 12-16 hours, longer for local customers if there is/are transformers that feed them as those...

I wish they made a full height 24 inch Kenmore washer, or at least a compact washer with a rear control panel. That would be so cool.

Sorry for the black-outs, but lucky they weren't in the winter. Winter is the worst. I don't see most utility power services being reliable enough for total electrification.

    Burgers and Fries

Whole foods BBQ sauces are still IMO better than all those made to look fancy high fructose corn syrup BBQ sauce at your average grocery chain. The Lo Mein comes in a frozen bag with minimal additives and no bad preservatives. And of course, unprocessed meat which is key to good health.

I'd agree with you only if the prior system needed power to fire. I like the idea of having back-ups when the power goes out.
