actually that washer is not older than six years old,and if you change the exhaust duct on the dryer to the one where you have to stretch it out to expand it then it should dry better.

speed queen made amana when the lid opened to the left,i think they where called amana turbo machines.

yes you can change the agitator,but you will probably mess it up getting it out because after all these years of the agitator being in there it will be stuck.it is middle to late seventies.

is the outer tub plastic?

is that he soap you are using,also does the drum spin fast,its suppose to go around 710 rpms,do you respin the clothes,if so do they come out ok after?

the motor is turning on and off,does it only do this on slow speed before the spin cycle,if so it is more than likely the timer.

the tub not being centerd that would be the washer not leveled,and the clothes coming out wet,are you using too much soap?

the last of the raytheon amana before maytag got them were by alliance laundry also, you could tell them because they had the bigger lid opening and the newer tub ring like the new speed queens only they were grey (the tub rings).those machines had bad tub seals,i think they were called perfect...
