    Epoxy enamel appliance paint

Looks good! Mine came out the same way and I didn't want to wet sand either. I did use polishing compound and a buffer to even it out. It improved the finish but not completely. I felt it was close enough though. Considering the age of the machine and the condition it was in when I brought it...

Vaseline! Is what you need to coat the shaft and spline with. There should be oily residue on the shaft. Vegetative Oil will wash right out. With your new blue agitator there is a cup the keeps water away from the shaft. I just did 4 loads in mine this morning and when I removed the agitator...

Since it's so new . . . I would think it would pop right off. Try some very HOT water and see if that loosens it. It should have about the same clearance on the bottom as the old one. Once you get it off put lost of Vaseline on the shaft and the inside of the spline. Remove it after each use...

    Maytag E2L restoration

An old time Standard Oil gas pump! I vaguely remember those pumps before they went to the more modern squared off pumps. I sent you an email with the page for the wringer sticker. They had the blue model sticker but they were for the N2L or J2L's. Not that anyone but an expert could tell it's...

    Maytag E2L restoration

Hi Bob There's a guy I used a few years ago to but replacement decals. As soon as I can find his contact info I'll pass it on. One of the ones I bought was the warning label on the wringer. As for painting, I did use the spray appliance white enamel. I had to paint it outside or I'd have...

    Maytag E2L Agitator Problems

I don't think any glue will work . . . I think your best bet is to get a new teal colored agitator. Those work with any post war E2L washers. I think that's why you see so many of these in washers that originally had aluminum, red or black bakelite agitators. Phil sells new ones but Dave...

Water in the Power Unit You'll know soon enough if you have a water leak into the Power Unit. In most cases this is the cause of oil seeping out the weep hole and leaking down the left rear leg. The water displaces the transmission oil and forces it out the vent. Very common on these old...

Maytag wringer and a huge wash today

Having had a Maytag Master wringer as a daily driver now for 4 years, I have to agree on getting better results. I think it is the control of wash time and water temperature. Plus I just don't think my front loader uses enough water to do the job. This ain't Dry Cleaning. You need WATER! And the...

    spin-driers became twintubs?

There was also a cost factor. EASY Spindriers also cost more than a conventional wringer. But also on top of eliminating the aforementioned wringer, you also didn't need the big laundry tubs used for rinsing since that was done in the spin side. A big plus for households without a basement. My...

    HELP Speed Queen Wringer

No ON / OFF Switch On my Grandmother's Speed Queen and on my Maytag wringer, there is no ON/OFF switch for the power. The switch marked ON/OFF on our SQ was for the agitator. The ON/OFF for the motor is the plug. Plug it in and the motor is on. Unplug it and it's off. Most wringers are like that.

Need some help with restoring a Pink 1960's E2LP

I still have the Center Plate that mine came with, It looks way better than yours which looks like toast to me. I tried to remove the shaft to see which bearing was bad but couldn't get it to budge. If you think you can repair my old one it's yours. It's been sitting in a box of spares in my...

Need some help with restoring a Pink 1960's E2LP

There MUST be someone out there with a "parts" machine. It would be easier to swap out the P.U. than rebuilding the one you have. If you're brave enough to want to keep the one the machine came with, I bet Phil can sell you any parts you'd need. Also when it comes to the Center Plate, make...

Need some help with restoring a Pink 1960's E2LP

MOVING A MAYTAG E2L Was a thread I started over 3 years ago when I was where you are today. You might find some useful information in it from my refurbishment as well as some of my mistakes along the way. Mine kept locking up also. Once I opened it up all I could find was a few chipped teeth...

Need some help with restoring a Pink 1960's E2LP

It looks to me like . . . You'll need a replacement or complete rebuild of the Power Unit. The shaft is supposed to be flush on both sides of the unit. This is probably why you can only turn the pulley 6 times. Here's a picture of what the inside should look like. It has a clutch missing but...

POD 12-8-15 Bendix flexible tub washer

Our Neighbors had one.. . I remember the last time I was there she had a problem when it was finished. The pressure wouldn't release and the top remained tightly closed. You could not force it open. Just wait for 30 minutes to an hour for it to finally release. This was in 1969 and they...

overnight with a tub full of water?

I don't see how I sometimes will let mine soak clothes all night. Never had an issue. They're designed to hold water. Just not long enough to corrode or rust the tub like weeks or months.

Oh MY Stars ! If you wait long enough it will come along !

Good point!! Look at the inside tub. I've seen these aluminum tubs brand new and they look polished. Very shiny. This one looks like it has some use all right. At the very least it's had water in it before. It might be "low mileage" but "no mileage"?
