Any One Use Pressure Cookers ?

Tom (turbomatic), Hey, thanks for the greeting! I think I still have your phone number in the Rolodex. This site has been a lot of fun. I've seen a lot of pressure cookers at thrift stores, but never the Reverware ones we have.

    New Range-Old Cookware

I have seen that type of cookware in many thrift stores, so it made it to the West Coast. Have all of the pots bottoms remained flat? They look so. The handles are special as is the shape of some of the pieces. It looks like you have part of a percolator.

From the Kitchen at Casa Electrolux

I hope you post the recipe. I am looking for a great macaroni and cheese recipe. Did you use any Velveeta?

Any One Use Pressure Cookers ?

I have a six quart Revere Ware pressure cooker from the early seventies. I think it may have been recalled because when I contacted the company to replace the pressure release plug, they wanted me to send it back to them. I jerry rigged a rubber pressure release plug from Presto. It still works...

I've been looking through some of my old magazines again, and I thought you might like to see . . .

Thanks, Selectomatic. I've thought before that the advertisements from old magazines are more interesting than the articles.

Does Anyone Have a Recommendation for a Replacement Garbage Disposal?

Volsboy1, This is a replacement, so there is nothing to do with the wiring. hoover1060, gee, I don't know what brand the old disposal is, but I know it has been there for at least 23 years. Now, I sort of wish I had arranged to do it myself, but the plumber is coming tomorrow. The drain is...

Does Anyone Have a Recommendation for a Replacement Garbage Disposal?

Our Home Depot had the ISE Evolution which I bought for $299.99. It will cost about $140.00 to have it installed. I could probably do it myself, but when I do such work, there are not only multiple trips to the hardware store, but also there have been trips to the emergency room.

I could use some advice from my friends....

I rent houses in California, and I have it written in the lease agreement that the tenant is responsible for repairs to the refrigerator, washer and dryer. I am responsible for repairs for built-in appliances (such as the dishwasher), and the range. I have appliances in perfect working order...

What Are the Directions for Using a Culinare French Press Coffee Maker?

Well, I used the Culinare, and it worked well! The French press is really easy as I have instant hot water set on high. Another way I like coffee is in individual Durobor (printed on the glass cup) drip coffee cup. I got two almost 40 years ago from Belgium. That was a common way to serve coffee...

What Are the Directions for Using a Culinare French Press Coffee Maker?

I haven't had an occasion to use it yet, but I am sure that the removable basket makes the cleanup of the grounds much easier. The basket is snapped onto the plunger assembly, so when you pull the plunger out of the pot, you pull the basket out, too. Then all you would have to do is unsnap the...

Does Anyone Have a Recommendation for a Replacement Garbage Disposal?

I have to replace a garbage disposal in a rental house built in 1964. One plumber told me that the sewer pipes were such that the garbage disposal should be used minimally. The current tenant is an elderly lady who does very little cooking. Do garbage disposals differ in how much they grind up...

What Are the Directions for Using a Culinare French Press Coffee Maker?

Hey! I figured it out! To make the coffee, remove the basket from the plunger and place it in the bottom of the pot. Add the coffee (or add it to the basket before placing the basket in the pot), add the hot water, place the plunger on top off the pot, wait four, or so, minutes, depress the...

What Are the Directions for Using a Culinare French Press Coffee Maker?

I found a Culinare French press coffee maker at a thrift store, but I don't know how to use it. The photo shows the basket, which snaps onto the plunger. I put coffee into the basket, snapped on the cover, pushed the basket into the hot water, waited a few minutes and had very weak coffee. Is...

    Favorite Christmas Albums

I was intrigued by the topic and have to add my favorite Christmas recording: Julie Andrews's rendition of "Sleigh Ride" from her "Sounds of Christmas" album done for Hallmark in the early 1990s. It's four minutes and eleven seconds long, and I love every second of it. She hits a note near the...

    Sunbeam 1930's Vacum Coffeemaster

Nathan, I found a Silex vacuum coffee maker with electric heat source at a garage sale about ten years ago for $3.00. It is fun to watch make coffee. Removing the top bowl, though, is troublesome. When I was growing up, we had a Sunbeam automatic vacuum coffee maker that came with a stand that...

    cleaning waffle iron plates

Tom, yes the waffle iron plates did come clean (very nicely, in fact), and the warping was just bad enough to make them unusable. I put them into the recycle, so they are now gone. the next set of plates that I am trying to clean has responded a little to Greased Lightning. I am thinking that I...

    cleaning waffle iron plates

Well, I just took the waffle iron plates out of the self-cleaning oven (four hour cycle), and they are warped and unusable. The good news is that I have other Sunbeam waffle irons with the same removable plates, so I can use those (but they are still unsightly, too). I'll look for that "Greased...

    cleaning waffle iron plates

MattL,jamiel, laundromat, and veg-o-matic: Thanks so much! I now have the waffle plates in the self-cleaning oven. Years ago I saw a Faberware pan that was left on an electric stove with the element on and nothing in the pot. The aluminum bottom melted onto the heating element. I'm trusting it...

    cleaning waffle iron plates

I have a 1950s Sunbeam waffle baker that is in good shape except that the plates are practically black. I would like to clean them and then season them. Here is what I have tried: Turning it on high with salt between the plates (didn't work); oven cleaner (yes, I know it says not to use it on...
