    Tariffs on Washing Machines

I have an electric percolator I purchased from BB&B a few years ago. I don't know where you can get the stove top ones, but the percolator I have starts brewing nearly immediately when you plug it in. It is a Hamilton Beach unit and works very well.

    Favorite season

I prefer cooler weather to heat and humidity. It is still warm here and expected to hit 80 degrees again tomorrow. I can't wait for it to get cooler. I love the fall/winter season. Thanksgiving and Christmas put me in a better mood also. Looking forward to our first snow if we have one this year.

    Tariffs on Washing Machines

Ok. I will say this about foreign made microwave ovens. I just recently had to scrap a Kenmore Elite microwave that was made by LG. That microwave lasted 11 years, the longest by a mile of any other microwave ovens I have had since 1988. Several of them were made in the USA and lasted just after...

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

Looks like we are slowly but surely being forced off of top loaders. This is what happens with government interference micro managing our lives. They probably could be programmed to use more water but "big brother says" we must conserve. We didn't create the earth we live on, so how is it up to...

Yet more "I'm getting too old"

My current Chevy Malibu has that little button for the emergency brake. So much easier with a proper pull up hand brake.

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

That is what is ideal about gas. In the event you were cooking something when the power goes out, at least you can finish stove top cooking. Also I use the burners sometimes as an heat source in cold winters but not often.

    Competitor Challenge!!

I have only had one experience with loading a dishwasher and that is my current WP portable quiet partner. I can cram a lot into the bottom rack even with the tower and get everything clean on the normal cycle with hi-temp wash in roughly 1 1/2 hours and have cleaned and dry dishes. The top...

    POD 10/13/2017 (Friday the 13th!!!)

I have always thought these were very handsome sets. My mom had a Norge from the seventies and the matching dryer we never got hooked up. I member that greenish/tiel ? color the dryer drum had and it was HUGE ! That washer made a racket though, but cleaned like a champ. My mother washed a lot of...

Preference of Gas or Electric ranges?

Grew up with a gas range and much prefer them. Had an electric range in my first apartment but hated it. Didn't stay long enough to really get used to it. I do like the way an electric oven cooks though. I bought a kitchen aid toaster oven that I use most of the time for tasks where I want a...

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

On first look at the Maytag dryer I got nervous. I thought it looked Frigidaire by the door.

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

John I couldn't agree more . Whirlpool was a juggernaut from the beginning of the automatic washer boom. They said as early as 1950- "The world's largest manufacturer of washers and dryers"- or very close to that. They should position Maytag like they did with Kitchen aid washers and dryers...

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

Wow ! Magic Clean are these the newest Maytags ? I will have to go to a Sears today to see these for myself if they have them. I can't tell from the picture though,..is the agitator a true dual action ? or is it one piece ? 5 yr. parts and labor on the entire machine ? Good for Whirlpool. I...

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

Speed Queen uses a single piece agitator because I am sure they found it to be perfectly adequate to get clothes clean. I had a DD super capacity Kenmore washer with a triple action DAA . Those agitators work well in the taller narrower tubs. I also had a DD super capacity Whirlpool prior to...

    Best smelling washing powder

The US version of Persil 2in1 I am trying for the first time smells very nice I think. Leaves a light scent on the clothes.

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

Why should we be forced to accept that kind of washing ? Who gets to dictate how much water someone uses?...ahhh...whatever, just wasting my time. Whatever will be will be.

    2018 Speed Queen topload models

Can't help but wonder if that is indeed the new agitator,...how low will the water levels be? Unless it rotates 360 like a pulsator . All just speculation , but it has me curious now more than ever. Another thing, will they still call these new machines "commercial Heavy Duty ? Time will tell.

    CR Downrating Front Loaders

Just look at the overwhelming good reviews with Speed Queen top loaders. Many disagree with CUs criticisms and rightly so. The fact you don't need an extended warranty on a SQ plus the parts and labor warranties should be plusses. A machine that is truly "HEAVY DUTY" and not "commercial...

    POD 10/9/2017

I remember a friends mother back in the early 80s had a GE washer just like this one and it had a black 3 straight vane agitator. I actually like the minimalist look of these GE washers. Rather handsome machines.

Man those fins are super shallow on the base, but am looking forward to the new machines in any case. Maybe Alliance will get the top load HE concept right from the start. [this post was last edited: 10/9/2017-16:23]
