tyring to cut back on sugar. Down to one soft drink a day and cut out snacking and desserts. Life without dessert sucks, I will say that.

    Bath Towels

another vote for JCPenney, if they are on sale, some very good prices and quality. They have been using towels and sales on them as a loss leader to bring people into the store.

This song is driving me INSANE.

@brucelenta Collecting vinyl doesn't make you a weirdo, I also have a large collection of vinyl. The internet makes playing music easy and is convenient, but there's nothing like pulling that 45 of the song you want to listen to, and letting the turntable do it's thing, plus it beats streaming...

Music or Tv....Which do you prefer?

^won't let me edit, but I have an early 90's mid-level AudioSource preamp running into the tape input to run the computer and TV audio through the PB.

Music or Tv....Which do you prefer?

One of my two channel systems. 1963 Packard Bell, 17 watts per channel with the correct, Packard Bell branded stand alone speakers. This little system will literally shake the walls and sounds quite nice. Forgive the mess around it, please.

Music or Tv....Which do you prefer?

very picky about tv, very few shows I actually watch. I usually use it more for background noise. When I'm writing or editing my novel, it's usually music from the time frame I'm working in, or 80's Hair Metal. (Poison, Britney Fox, Def Leppard).

This song is driving me INSANE.

Yeah it's pretty much unobtainium in digital format aside from youtube. I finally ended up getting the 45 rpm and ripping off the turntable.

It's the earwig from Hell. I haven't been able to get rid of it for three weeks. Here's the short radio version

Making iced tea with an electric percolator.

Only if the percolator was never used for coffee. YUCK! It also depends on the steeping temperature. 190 is optimum which just below boil. In the pot, it's just to the point where the bubbles disturb the surface of the tea, and there's a little foam. If it reaches boiling, throw it out, it will...

When your 1920's fan blows up in the middle of the night

I was being melodramatic but what happened was the original headwire shorted out, went off like the 4th of July. It was laziness on my part about not taking care of it. The motor had been cleaned out and relubricated, but because of bad/worn out seals, the lubricant slowly leaked out also. The...

When your 1920's fan blows up in the middle of the night

Maybe it's time, to, oh I don't know, SERVICE IT. Man what a mess, and I still didn't get bearings rebuilt quite right but it's running again. Thanks Dad, for setting it oscillate when I told you not to. I love this little ten inch 2 speed fan.

Anyone else living without a cell phone??

@Laundress, Agreed, but when you work with kids, and see daily what's happening, it's a completely different ballgame. @blackstone, No clue, it looks you're comparing apples to oranges.

Anyone else living without a cell phone??

As for the negative social aspects of phone ownership, I'm not convinced the device is to blame. Those people just may not have much to offer the social world in the first place. No doubt that society is changing though, probably in many of the same ways that our parents complained about...

Anyone else living without a cell phone??

@frigilux. Dead on post. It's absolutely scary to think of what it's going to be like in about ten years. While people DID complain about tv and radio when it first came out, the overall impact was nothing compared to the intrusive level of cell phones and rest of the screens.

Anyone else living without a cell phone??

here's the ugly side that no one is talking about. The "screens", tablets, phones, etc are essentially killing society as we know it. People are losing the ability to be able to properly socialize and relate to each other. They are losing the ability to properly read and interpret things such as...

What Dishwashing liquid are You Using

I like use the really cheap lemon scented stuff sometimes for general house cleaning. Joy or store brand. Lately, for "quick" dishwashing jobs, I really like the blue HEB (Southern store chain) with Oxy. The smell is not quite Dawn, it has a "cleaner" very slight bleachy smell.

    Minor Halloween Stuff-Lit Up Skull

Halloween is absolutely my favorite time of the year. There's a couple of small things I've already started doing. These skulls are available at Micheals. They are originally designed to use a LED tea light, they look terrible with these tea lights not to mention expensive batteries. I found a...
