I far more of a music person than tv.... Music relieves stress, you can get lost in the rythm of the beat and you can interpret the lyrics how ever you want... You don't have to watch anything, you can do chores or just sit and relax... Even spoken word is better to me

So which do you like? Here is one of my favorite songs for the rytham and sound....

(Forgive my typing i am on a munchkin sized laptop)

Oh hard...

Decision.

Got to admit, I put the TV on more for a background noise, I will happily watch the same series or movies over and over again, as I don't have to concentrate on it too much (so it is more for background whilst I am on the Laptop etc).

I listen to a lot of music, but 99%+ is through headphones, will usually listen when doing chores etc.

Depends on the film or program on TV.

News is stressfull. A movie like Forest Gump, etc. not.
I never found the Police band to be relaxing, not like Bab's for example.

very picky about tv, very few shows I actually watch. I usually use it more for background noise.

When I'm writing or editing my novel, it's usually music from the time frame I'm working in, or 80's Hair Metal. (Poison, Britney Fox, Def Leppard).

This Room has really gotten EXPENSIVE!!!!

Easy to see, which I prefer, but I have a small, personal DVD player that I watch at least one video on which came w/ one of my Pat Boone CD's & I hope to someday get his movies, as well...

Great song. Listening to it as I type this. Always liked The Police. 99% of the TV I watch is TCM or PBS. Have no interest in any "reality" TV or serials. Though I did watch last three season of Downton Abbey. I know its been mentioned here before but I cant stand all the commercials. I listen online to a local radio station at work (see my recent post concerning the station). When I move into my house soon I plan on trying to go without TV. Will have to see how well I do with that though.

That music room is awesome.. I have a nice Klipsch and Yamaha set up downstairs and YES i own a 4K tv, but that was because i couldn't pass up a good deal

I watch tv only when my roommates do and thats very briefly

I think

separate components are better all around. I have a similar set up by Sony, with Bose Acoustimas.
I had a nice Kenwood receiver before, but one of youngins left it on and closed the cabinet.

DaveAMKrayoGuy's Cooktop & Boogie-Woogie Box!

These are both Techniques...  The record player I was lucky to have found years ago at a record store under consignment of misc. stereo equipment/electronics & been able to run like a 24-7 DJ airplay operation without a single repair! (Only change the needle every 3,000 plays!) --It's the MAYTAG of Turntables/Phonos...

The receiver/amplifier was made Oct. 1980 (indicated by a sticker on back of the unit & on the original box, that I'd even found, though loaded w/ books & heavy stuff, that I'd emptied out of it) and actually got from my in-laws that I'd replaced my 2nd unit faster than my first... I got a turntable/phono from them & speakers that got sold, but the latter, I'd wished I'd kept, had I known I could install them in my basement as a "remote" set, as we'd still been living in our apartment...

As for the CD, a Cambridge Audio... Which it replaced an easy-to-operate Pioneer, that lasted from 1993 when I'd bought new to 2013, and can't do a thing without the remote except turn on and off and at least play; there is no number/calendar to guide me programming songs in the order that I want & seem to have to do more than ever, hence I get a lot of repeats as well as omit tracks, spoiling the fun and enjoyment of my plays!

One of my two channel systems. 1963 Packard Bell, 17 watts per channel with the correct, Packard Bell branded stand alone speakers. This little system will literally shake the walls and sounds quite nice.

Forgive the mess around it, please.

^won't let me edit, but I have an early 90's mid-level AudioSource preamp running into the tape input to run the computer and TV audio through the PB.

Those technics recievers are tanks.. I've seen more of them around the us than anything else

I love the old packard bell stuff.. Truly fine equipment and shows what the company once was...

To love both is even more of an apprication.. I am getting into two tv shows.. Orange is the new black and re runs of Nurse Jackie... we will see if i stick with it

Music

Most likely, I'd prefer music if I had to choose. I've been taking dance classes for 4 years now, and couldn't stand takeing the bus without my headphones. I recently changed my headphones due to the old ones just dying. I'll never buy headphones for less then 60€ again, the sound is just miles better. I prefer in-ear as well.

I do however watch a lot of TV. And if there is a commercial brake, I have my tablet on hand to watch some YouTube.

I guess I am quite milenial.

I bought a used Tecniques SA80

receiver for $80 in 1978. I later resold it. Then got a Pioneer SX780. My sister still has it.
If they were made in Japan, they seemed to last a long time.
Marantz with the thumb wheel tuners and blue lights were also great.
I know of a shop which restores and sells vintage audio components. They have them all. Luxman, Macintosh, Nikko, Aiwa, Aikai, Sansui, Harmon Kardon, Bang and Olufsen, etc.
Orchard Lake rd. near 14 mile. They advertise on Craigs.
I took a music appreciation class in high school. Before then, I never like Pink Floyd, or classical either. But I did like ELO, and their sound has both nuances.

I had a Marantz that had a pitch control--Second-to-None!

But, it was a semi-automatic (why is this like discussing weapons?) when my fully-automatic Techniques was what I'd liked much better...

So the former I'd gotten rid of, though it worked good...
