    Beware the Pinkness ...

My eyes! My eyes! What's really scary is someone's going to pack up all that sh*t and take it somewhere new and presumably do it all over again.   lawrence

    BOL GE Dryer

Glenn, Got that right!  It might be BOL, but it has automatic dry AND the magnetic door latch with step-on pedal.  A very unusual dryer.  I'd take it in a heartbeat if it were local.   lawrence

Anyone know where the model number might be on this Maytag range?

Nice! I've always liked the styling of these ranges. I think they were basically Hardwick ranges. Has anyone tried to lift the top? It might be hinged at the rear for cleaning, and the information you're looking for might be on the sub-top. lawrence

    Help Identifying this GE Range?

Sweet range!  I believe it's a 1961 model.  I think it's the range that was featured in advertising in bright red, and touted the speed with which it would boil water.  I believe the model number is J-304.   lawrence [this post was last edited: 7/22/2024-17:11]

Look at what's in the kitchen

I think the asking price for the listing reflects the property's potential as a commercial development.  It's located a quarter mile from the intersection of two US highways, next door to a seafood business, and it's already zoned B-2.  The house is likely what's left of a farm, maybe quite...

    Spiffy Hotpoint BOL

Ken, I believe the 'vent' you're asking about is actually a water source/shower.   lawrence

Look at what's in the kitchen

A real estate listing in Dothan, AL.  Listing says that the house was built in 1940, which is probably accurate, but looks like the kitchen was remodeled about 1965.  Look closely to Photos 7 and 9.   lawrence https://www.trulia.com/home/223-campbellton-hwy-dothan-al-36301-76017731

    GE Tower Wash performance test

Barry Your dishwasher appears to have the same wash set-up as my 1994 GE Potscrubber, with the multi-orbit wash arm.  I gave this one to my parents for Christmas that year and it's still working and doing the job 30 years later.  However, it rarely saw a loading like the one you tested and...

    GE 30" Shaded Coppertone Range

A no-frills range, several million of these were in apartments across the US.  Appears to be clean, nice condition, and over-priced.   $300 in Tallahassee, FL.   lawrence https://tallahassee.craigslist.org/app/d/tallahassee-1960s-general-electric-plug/7761158109.html

    1955 GE Filter-flo

Ken, My 1962 Sweets insert shows the original style bleach dispenser.  The 1963 insert shows the second version.  Obviously there was a period of transition.   I looked back at additional printed materials and all of the information that I have shows a left-handed lid.  The 1954 models used...

    1955 GE Filter-flo

I just came across an interesting trivia regarding the first year of the Filter-flo washer.  The first pic is from an ad published in March 1955, the second pic is from an ad in June 1955.  Note the difference in hinge arrangement.  Was the left hand hinge a carryover from earlier models or a...

    WP Clean-Touch Pair

Nice high end pair from the early/mid 90's right here in Mobile.  I wonder if the touch overlays might still be available?   $200 for the pair.   lawrence https://mobile.craigslist.org/app/d/mobile-whirpool-washer-and-dryer/7765017026.html

1961 GE filter flow washer picture of the day

Just for the record GE introduced their Mini-Basket/Mini-Wash system with the 1962 models.  Today's P.O.D. features the 1963 TOL machine.   lawrence

Questions about the G.E. Mark 27

Jamie, In the last years of the original configuration (above), GE had already abandoned the 'Mark 27' badge and started marketing them as 'Spacemaker' ranges.   lawrence

    P.O.D. 07.04.2024

Two questions about the POD -    First, what became of Easy?   Second, just reading the features of the advertisement for a 14-lb capacity washer, it would appear to be a quality product.  Was it?  Do any exist in anyone's collection?   lawrence

    GE Avocado Set

Re: Reply #10 John, One correction - both the washer and the dryer are 1968 models, at least based on the catalogs that I have.  The 1969 version would have been a WA850E and would have an optional Extra Rinse rotary switch.   lawrence
