    Motor Control Board Fried!

Don't worry, soldering is easy. Let the iron sit on the stand for a few minutes to bring it up to temp. First, "wet" or "prime" the iron's tip with a little solder, then clean it off, on the little water-damp sponge, this helps to conduct the heat to the connection. A steady hand, proper...

    Motor Control Board Fried!

Going against my professional suggestions isn't wise advice. So can the hatred where it belongs.... in the garbage. I can clearly see multiple spots on the board that need attention. Mark even confirmed the questionable soldering as well. Repairing only one spot will not insure reliable...

    Whirlpool Washer WTW5000DW3

So, for a 5.5 year old machine, costing $500-600, it's typical that they are so poorly designed these days. Last year, my neighbor hauled out a 4 year old Samsung washer and dryer for trash. The repairman told them they both had too much wrong with them and turned down the job. The washer alone...

    Whirlpool Washer WTW5000DW3

Numerous people on this site are faithful to "vintage" machines" since they were built with quality and reliability back in those days. I, along with them, would rather spend money on those older machines, IF, it should ever need repairing. Because those machines didn't rely on fancy...

    Whirlpool Washer WTW5000DW3

From what I've seen, that model has multiple issues. In other words, it's a trouble-prone machine that frustrates the hell out of even experienced servicers..

    Motor Control Board Fried!

That soldering paste won't be needed, because the solder already has a rosin core built into it. Practice makes perfect! And DO let us know how things work out. ;)

    Motor Control Board Fried!

Make sure it's a pencil-point tipped iron. Use rosin core tin-lead electronic solder only. And don't forget to unplug that washer before anything! Carefully scrape any blackened areas to allow the solder to adhere better. Minimize any unneeded flexing of the connector wiring. And double check...

    Motor Control Board Fried!

Good luck, sorry I can't offer any guarentees if it doesn't fix the problem. Because I do my best troubleshooting on my workbench, impossible through the internet.

You Tube: Appliance brands to avoid

Consider this....... You power a device from a simple on-off switch only. It lasts for decades. Then you power a device from a plethora or long string of electronic components that can likely become defective.... and try to find the bad component, while your frustration builds. I like the...

    Motor Control Board Fried!

Mark, that board's got Muliple Issues from what I can see. It appears to be a relay board, am I right? If you look Closely at all the soldering connections, there are plenty of cracked/loose connections, particularly on those connector plugs. With a magnifying glass, you'll see circular cracking...

You Tube: Appliance brands to avoid

Great video there. However what's talked on it certainly doesn't surprise me. The same goes for anything made today, particularly with those vulnerable "control boards", or feature-laden "smart" electronics. The more complex something is, the more it's prone to issues. Sadly, the consumer has...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

And just how do you know what my experience is, I'd like to know. I'm not here to learn about things that I already know. Besides, 655 posts from someone doesn't justify actually knowing them over the internet, much less knowing what they know or don't know.

    KDS-20 Leak

Don't overthink things, there's no digestable food made in a dishwasher. 😠

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

Because I'm calling out poor designs for what they are. I'd do that too for radios if need be, and have in the past. So if you're trying to make me think like you, good luck with that. Last I knew, people have different DNA and the freedom to state what's on their mind, without being badgered

Hobart Presents: The KitchenAid Energy Saver V Dishwashers - 16mm Film

I'm certainly educated as to past history of snake-oil products. But what I mentioned in my previous discussion here is about the Recent slew of and increase in this practice, highly increased by modern technology. There's something behind it all that's got my red flags waving like in a storm...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

Anybody that Buys Into that type of sluggish performance must have been thoroughly brainwashed with the New World Order disease epidemic that's been going around. I just did a large load in my Maytag A482. Sheets, towels, socks, undies, etc. and the turnover and sloshing around was in my...

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

That machine is another one that I'd never like or buy. Who thought up such a pathetically slow and crappy system like that? Must have been some moron.

    Whirlpool Washer Rant!

Sorry gansky, but that video shows me how pathetic that noisy and SLOW agitation is. I'd never accept that kind of performance in a washer.

Early KitchenAid KDS-21: The Holy Grail Has Finally Been Found

I mis-quoted the info on my earlier post, I thought it was a 14cf model, it's not. The fridge was in the house when I moved in back in 2005. When I initially cleaned and inspected it back then, it looked like it was all original, including the dust buildup in the back. It purrs like a kitten...
