    Is Your Washing Machine Running?

I just got sick reading that....

    Bose buys McIntosh (audio equipment)

Yes, that negative feedback stuff has wound up brainwashing people for years. But in fact, it indeed reduces distortion levels, and increases the control over the speakers - so is that really a "bad thing"?

KELVINATOR KITCHEN CABINETS - $1000 (Kenosha)

My main bathroom is the original from 1940, and quite charming as-is. The ceramic wall tiles are in perfect condition and I like the color. So is the matching mosaic tile flooring. And the tub in cast iron, is fine, maybe a little worn on the bottom. To replace it, the whole bathroom would need...

    Hisense dryer recall

Indeed, this "overload" of advertizing has gotten out of hand. There used to be an hour-long tv show with only a brief product advertizment of one minute long on the half-hour and at the ending of the show. Now?.... every 8 to 10 minutes, for almost 5 minutes long, another damned commercial!! -...

    Hisense dryer recall

Sorry, but any of those recent brand names raises red flags in my opinion. I call Hisense..... "Non-sense".

    GE washers...

This is mainly about out-sourcing manufacturing, causing weak spots in quality.

KELVINATOR KITCHEN CABINETS - $1000 (Kenosha)

Yes, I figure the previous owners of my home wanted the best products in the kitchen, and the laundry area in the basement. I've no intention to get on that "follow the leader" bandwagon that many seem to fall for, due to the continuous advertising of "Upgrade your kitchen" or "Update your...

    Bose buys McIntosh (audio equipment)

I've serviced some McIntosh stuff for customers years ago, and a few amps for a neighbor. While they were built like heavy bricks, and sported snazzy styling, I wasn't too impressed with them. Yes, they performed nicely, but their specs were somewhat dissapointing. In comparison, the THD specs...

    Kirkland laundry detergent

I've been using Windfresh powder detergent in my 1985 Maytag top loader for 20 years now and it's not been a problem. And before that, I used it for 11 years in my Kenmore/Whirlpool portable top load washer with no issues either. So, 31 years of that detergent has not done anything but get my...

    Still Dead Microwave

Does anybody remember the series Perry Mason? - and "Della" his secretary? (Barbara Hale) I adored that woman!.... she was classy! She was a spokesperson for Amana - see video.

KELVINATOR KITCHEN CABINETS - $1000 (Kenosha)

Then you'd like my kichens' cabinets - solid, real wood, English Oak, no particleboard stuff, self closing doors and drawers. Installed in the 70's and made in Louisville Ky by Scheirich Kitchens. Some history: "Scheirich (or Scheirich) was a company that manufactured kitchen cabinets and...

    GE washers...

I have 3 GE room airconditioners, all bought around 2005-2008. The guts are all labeled "LG". The big one, for my downstairs, a 18,000 BTU unit, gave me grief last July because of a cheap/weak spade terminal on the compressor, and lack of proper sealing of the compressor weather cap, resulting...

    Still Dead Microwave

Out of the many microwaves that came into my shop over the decades the main problem was in the touchpads. A "partial" section of the pad failed, and had to be replaced since it was not a serviceable part. People tended to press too hard on them and mashed the conducting film, eventually causing...

    Kirkland laundry detergent

I suspect that not cleaning the filter after a load, and using that sticky overly thick Downey softener was the main problem. The Windfresh is a great detergent, since I can see how it keeps my clothes looking like new, and clean. I'll bet that the ingredients of Windfresh are the same as...

    GE washers...

My parents had a 5000 BTU GE airconditioner, the "Thinline" model that lasted from 1962 and was still going strong when my father died in 1993. That was, of course, when GE made things here in the USA.

    GE washers...

That's a sly way of convincing the customer of its quality. Words..... "talk is cheap".

    KitchenAid dishwasher not cleaning well

My old kitchenaid Dishwasher has, from what I heard, a 1/2 HP motor in it, built like an industrial machine. ....after 50 years, it's still churning out sparkling clean dishes.

Are modern refrigerators really worth the upgrade?

Whenever I suspect a bad storm is coming, I'll unplug my most important devices, like this computer, the tv, stereo, etc. It take a few measily minutes to do, and insures that I don't have to spend a lot of money replacing things later on. I call it being proactive, and using common sense...

Are modern refrigerators really worth the upgrade?

LOL!..... dial phones!.... I love it! Modern living - not having to use your arms, legs, and hands to do chores anymore. Just use one finger, and what's left of your brain cells after having a SmartPhone Lobotomy. And why even visit an amusment park or a store? - when you can just slip on those...

    Bosch WAE series washing machines

User error, maybe. However, if coins, etc, can make their way from the basket to the pump on FL machines, why isn't it designed to prevent that from ever happening? A simple screen, perhaps.
