Never ever use detergent.... just baking soda

Hey everyone, When I got home today, out of pure scientific curiosity, I washed a diaper load with only baking soda on the sanitize cycle and the results? OMG EW! Nasty, stained and still smelly. I was so surprised! :-/ Then I tried it out on a very lightly soiled load and still... I could...

Never ever use detergent.... just baking soda

Im sitting here in my little hospital bed awaiting surgery tomorrow (got my first kidney stone, wouldn't recommend it) and my husband calls because he doesnt know how to wash the diapers. I tell him my wash routine and thats that. There was a nurses assistant in the room at the time and right...

    New Sunbeam Easy Bread maker

Thats strange. I wouldn't ever want a machine that did everything for me. I love baking bread, mixing it with a stand mixer and then kneading it by hand to pop it into a wood-fired brick oven!

    First vintage appliance

I bought my first vintage appliance! It's a Hobart made KitchenAid K5-SS stand mixer. I have been through no less than 5 modern KitchenAid mixers in the last few years and was to the point of swearing off KitchenAid for good but then I started reading about plastic parts and plastic gear houses...

    Satin Ornaments

Sorry to take so long to respond! A few years ago while going through my grandmothers things, I came across an aluminum tree. I was going to throw it out because the colored light was missing or broken, I can't remember which but I ended up keeping it. I think I will try to replace the light...

    Pods: A Prediction Comes True

I've only ever seen one case of "injury by pod" come through my ER but then again I don't work there very often if I can help it. It was a babysitter, maybe 16-18 and she was telling me that she thought it was just soap and wasn't big deal until it burst and baby swallowed some which was...

    Satin Ornaments

I've never heard of bubble lights, I'll have to look them up. My mom wasn't big on decorating for holidays, she felt it was a waste of time and money so my grandma always went overboard doing up her house for us kids. Thanks Tennblondie, Id seen the ones on eBay but they all say some of them...

    Kudos to Keurig

My husband had the same problem with his and then one day it just wouldn't power on anymore, we'd had it for about 8 months by that point. We weren't offered a new one or anything like that, he just ended up buying a new one. We're on our third one.

    Satin Ornaments

Hello all, Are satin ball ornaments made anymore? I haven't been able to find any in-store but I wasn't sure whether they were just unpopular or not even made anymore. We had them when I was a kid and while I HATED the fact that they would pull and snag so easily I loved the muted glow they had...

    Vintage Canisters

danemodsandy: That makes sense. My mother always has white appliances and my grandmother liked to have everything in almond. At the risk of dating myself, I've never actually seen appliances in those colors (avacado, harvest gold..) except maybe in old TV shows. xraytech: Love it!

Procter & Gamble's Plan to Return Back to the Top (ADW)

Nellie's I've tried a few of the Nellie's products and don't really care for them. The dishwasher products are basically just salt with some citric acid and a surfactant. There were no enzymes so my dishes were still a bit dirty at the end of the cycle. Same goes for the laundry products.

    Vintage Canisters

Thank you all for your responses! Finally knowing the name, Im considering trying to find a set, they're so cute, but would look rather odd with my kitchen decor. It would be a nice reminder of my childhood on my grandparents farm. I looked up the Merry Mushroom collection... I've never seen any...

    Vintage Canisters

My grandmother had this set when I was very young and Im hoping someone can tell me something about them. Like who made them, approximately when they may have been made and so on, Id really appreciate it! I just have the photo, haven't seen the actual set since I was maybe 5 or 6.

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

I love the smell of Gain Original powder. I use the liquid too but the powders scent seems "softer" than the liquid. I also love the smell of Tide w/bleach, seems very light and soapy rather than floral or fruity. My favorite cleaner scent is the Mrs. Meyers geranium, love it!

    French Detergent

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on some Super Croix detergent? Either the liquid or the bulles? The destination scents they have look interesting and Id like to give em a go. Thanks!

    Tide Total Clean?

Frigilux: Im sure by the end of the year there will be at least one or two new versions or scents that come out! I've become a bit of a pod-aholic myself, got quite the collection started as if I need anymore detergent. Had to install shelves to hold my growing stash :-/ I did some searching...
