    GE serial number decoder

At the risk of being told I have no idea what I am talking about as would happen in the FB appliance and vintage groups here's what I know off the top of my head:   From the model numbers, date codes had been as follows:   K - 1953 L - 1954 M - 1955 N - 1956 P - 1957 R - 1958 S - 1959...

    GE Power Shower

This looks like the US version of my Canadian Talisman GE dishwasher - it more than likely has the 'Silver Shower'.   I could use that silverware basket - mine's worn out....

    Bad Fill Valve

I chomped through 2 valves for my former Maytag DU401, a 1989 model, in rapid succession.  The new one I used to replace the original Maytag valve went *pow* after a mere 8 months... The second one was still working when I scrapped the machine however.   Modern parts, alas, are not always of the...

1972 Lady Kenmore Dishwasher in Denham Springs-Walker Louisiana

Damn!!  If I was closer, I'd nab this one....

    1950 through 1952 whirlpool washer

Wow!! Stellar find, John! Are you sure you know enough about how to fix Whirlpool washers, though?? (Ducks and runs...)

    ZENITH MARK I CLOTHES DRYER

I'm puzzled... I can't recall ever seeing Zenith appliances in stores.  Perhaps it was a regional thing, as this one is up for auction in Western Canada.     Who made it is a mystery to me, too.  The console, door handle and lint filter suggest a WCI-built product to me, possibly out of the...

    Kenmore Disposer

Built by ISE (In Sink Erator division of Emerson), this is a late 80s model.  I remember buying the 600 model Kenmore for my very first house back in 1989.    I'd grab this if they offered shipping....

Restoration of 1950 Westinghouse dishwasher almost done, but....

Rubber tub seal Robert, I'm fortunate the tub seal is still soft and flexible, but I like the idea of adding some closed-cell foam tape.  That stuff has bailed me out a number of times!

    Opinions on vintage GE ranges

1967 You beat me to it, Repairguy!!

    Chef's Pride range

Not Canadian This was not one of the oddball Canadian brands for sure.  The only vague resemblance is the oven bake unit... it kinda looks like the last of the Moffat ranges which were made by Admiral in Canada until 1975.  After that, Moffat appliances were GE/Hotpoint clones.

Restoration of 1950 Westinghouse dishwasher almost done, but....

Yes, there is always a 'but'....   It's been a long time since I've felt up to the challenge of a machine restoration, yet I threw myself into one of my 'project machines', the 1950 Westinghouse Wash-Well dishwasher.   I move a lot slower than I used to - shclepping a tub out of a machine like...

    GE Dishwasher

It's an early MobileMaid, more like 1954 or 1955 which featured the turquoise/teal accented timer dial and gasket.  For some reason, the 1956 models used a coral pink shade for these components.

Help with determining age of vintage Oster blender

Late 1970s.  My folks had one just like this, bought brand-new from Consumer's Distributing in 1977!  Theirs was harvest gold.    Oster made this style into the early 80s as I recall.

    Dehumidifier Quick Repair

I never would have thought of this... This is probably what happened to a dehumidifier I bought brand-new and then just stopped working after 8 months.  I trashed it and bought an old Kenmore and even older GE to replace it, but dammit, I am thinking that I might have been able to fix the "new"...

Almost a Bob-Load - Challenging the 66 Frigidaire Custom Imperial dishwasher

60 minutes later... Sparkling clean everything! I do like having the flexibility of loading large items in the bottom rack, but I have learned a few tricks to get items like bowls into that tiered Frigidaire upper rack. I am especially pleased with the large cutlery basket and how well this...

Almost a Bob-Load - Challenging the 66 Frigidaire Custom Imperial dishwasher

It has been a while since I have posted anything. My shaky hands are shakier than ever, but maybe the pictures from a new phone I got last month may help. I found this stunning, barely-used Frigidaire dishwasher last summer. It wouldn't run through a cycle due to timer motor issues. With help...

    Midwest Timer Service (MTS)

Launderess, Turner's Timer Repairs has also thrown in the towel on electromechanical timers.... Just recently, too, alas, as I found when they returned a GE dishwasher timer to me after saying that they could rebuild it.

    Midwest Timer Service (MTS)

Sean, they don't touch old timers anymore and haven't for years.
