Kenmore Dryer! My first 50's machine!

Greetings friends, I usually don't have anything worthwhile to post. Especially not in the 'pink' section of AW.Org. My post are usually limited to the 'yellow' area. But this time is different. Today, I have just taken possession of my very first 1950's automatic dryer! It's a Kenmore...

    Hoover Constellation Hose wanted-any condition

Yes, I think the Spirit is from the Celebrity QS era. The Constellation is much older. Replacement parts are non-existent. I can get hoses and parts for the new Constellations, but the parts and hook-ups are different and therefore, non-compatible. So, I have to scour sites and beg for...

    Hoover Constellation Hose wanted-any condition

Hey All, I'm in need of a hose for a Hoover Constellation 454. This is a side mounting hose. What I actually need is the end piece that connects to the machine itself. The hose end. However, I will take an entire hose. Good or bad. Any Color. It can be taped up and in bad shape as long as...

    Dry Clean Only

In my book, anything 100% polyester can be washed. If it is wool or rayon or a poly-wool blend etc, it would be best to dry clean as wool tends to shrink and distort. I have actually machine washed 100% poly suit jackets with no issues. Just have to press it when it comes out of the dryer...

    Advice on freight shipping

Hey everyone, I MIGHT be purchasing a large household appliance. The catch being that it's 1500 miles away. I would have to use a freight shipper to get it here. However, I've never sent anything by freight. This item is probably too big to crate, so it would be sent uncrated. I'm also...

Ding, Ding, Ding. Ding! Time's Up For Classic Yahoo Mail

It's strange because I have three separate e-mail addresses with yahoo and only one was forced into an upgrade. The other two have stayed the same. ~Tim J.

Is the US love affair with housework over?

Although it is my goal to keep the house looking showroom, unfortunately, my work schedule is so variable that I have to fit in cleaning when I can. Whether that be 11 am or 11 pm. I never let the house get messy though. I just don't do the scheduling thing. Living in the country, dust gets...

    Hoover Celebrity wanted

Hey all, I posted this in Vacuumland and thought I'd try here too. I'm looking for a Hoover Celebrity canister vacuum to mess around with. The condition or color doesn't matter much. As long as it works to some degree. The model doesn't matter, as long as it has a power nozzle. Maybe a...

    1950s Stainless Foodarama on Craigslist

they sanded it to repaint it and never got around to it I'd say that's the right answer. The outside trim is missing such as the Kelvinator logo plate (if this is a 55 model) and the trim pieces around the handles. Not a bad price. Not ideal, but not the worst. ~Tim J.

Here's the Dual Sanitronic 50. It runs good and it's a nice little machine. I have converted it to the Tradition disposable bag system. ~Tim J.

    Kirby Vacuum Cleaners

I have two Kirby. A Classic III and Dual Sanitronic 50. These are the first two I ever had. Now they are the only two I have and probably ever will. I have had several: G3, G4, Heritage II. I just don't collect stuff so unless it gets used, I usually don't keep it. Here's the Classic III...

    Confessions of a Phosphate addict.

I must have phosphates. So I buy Institutional Cascade and Mexican Ariel Laundry detergent. I buy them at a great expense, but to me, it's worth every penny. I could care less about the environment or energy efficiency. (This message brought to you by Monsanto.) ~Tim J.

    Vintage Fridge Thread

58limited That Foodarama is a 1957 model. They seem to be a little more obscure. I see alot more 55 and 56 models than 57 and 58 ones. The handles are a diamond-shaped pull-out style similar in mechanics to the previous years. The square portion underneath is like a decorative plate that...

    thinking of buying an overlocker/serger

I have a Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0. It's a nice machine and the bottom stitch threading is kind of hard. But it has color-coded guides to tell you what thread goes where. I only use it for one purpose. Stiching the fabric edges to prevent fraying. I don't use it for anything on the outside of the...
