    Recommendations for Vintage Can Opener

I typically use a cheap hand-held can opener but I have a 1956 Udico electric that works well, see my thread on it: http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?49825

My New Toy: Rangaire WR 550 Intercom

Just got this in this week, a Rangaire WR 550 intercom with three satellite speaker units. This was manufactured in Cleburne, Tx by Roberts Mfg. probably late 1950s/ early 1960s but not sure. I won't plug it in until the capacitors have been replaced. Anyone know anything about these?

A vintage freezer for the new house?

Nice find Paul. I had to replace the power cord on my Firestone upright freezer and I had to tackle the junction box to do so. It was held together with a single hollow brass rivet through the center, I just bent up the lip of the rivet with a small screwdriver and pulled it out, replaced the...

Vintage 1950's Refrigerator with full size Freezer- Original Paint! - $275 (Littleton)

That is a 1954 Frigidaire Imperial Cycla-Matic like mine. It is missing the egg shelves and serving tray but looks nice otherwise.

Finally Found One - Kelvinator Foodarama

Unfortunately, no. Been a busy year and most of my disposable income has gone to my plumber for various problems over that past 10 months.

    Making Hot Brown sandwiches

I got the e-mail alert and just watched the vid on youtube. This looks amazing! This would be perfect using my homemade sourdough bread. Might even be good with the cheezy jalapeno bacon bread I made last weekend. Thanks for posting this. BTW - isn't Mornay Sauce one of the four food groups?

    Aw.org for Antique Stoves?

That is really neat. Your best market for that is to those out in the country or with weekend cabins in the mountains. Would be a great dual fuel stove for cold climates and has a great retro look that works well in a log cabin.

    1954 Frigidaire Fridge

PhilR Wish I could help. My '55 is not an Imperial but it is complete. The only extra part i have for it is the NOS door handle which i have not installed yet. I posted a thread on the restoration of this fridge a few years ago, don't have time to search for the link right now. Marty, Thanks a...

    1954 Frigidaire Fridge

Marty, Thanks for the reply. My Imperial Cycla-Matic is missing most of the door parts (egg holders, shelves) plus the Utility Tray (the bin that hangs under the freezer), and the veggie drawers. The parts I obtained are too big for my fridge: the shelves are 26" wide, the shelves in my fridge...

    1954 Frigidaire Fridge

Goatfarmer, that is a 1955 model. I have a 1954 and a 1955 Frigidaire. I found an NOS 1955 handle on ebay a few years back but it is not the same as a 1954 handle. Our4boys - I'll have to dig through my parts but I think I might have a correct 1954 handle - I have several spare 1954 parts that...

    Kevin's Steak Au Poivre

    My New Vintage Firestone Freezer

The freezer booklet arrived today but it doesn't tell how to operate the freezer, just how to properly prepare and freeze foodstuffs. Jon is correct, the switch appears to be for a fast freeze cycle. Flipped one way the compressor always runs, flipped the other way it cycles on and off. The...

    J.L. Hudson's Canadian Cheese Soup

L.S. Ayres Tea Room Is apparently alive and well at the Indiana State Museum (see link below) as a reservation only venue. I wonder how much of the original menu offerings they have retained?   The Monte Cristo sandwich sounds intriguing, I'd like to find a recipe for the battered and fried...

    J.L. Hudson's Canadian Cheese Soup

I made this soup last night and it is awesome! I've tried other cheese soup recipes but until now none have been very good. I made some artisan bread last week so I brushed a few slices with olive oil, toasted them under the broiler, and used them to dip into the soup - Yum! Thanks again for...

    My New Vintage Firestone Freezer

There is no wiring diagram unfortunately.   Jon may be correct, I saw a reference to a quick freeze cycle when looking for literature on ebay. I bought a late 1940s Firestone Freezer booklet, maybe it will confirm this. The first time I flipped the switch (after the freezer had been running...

    My New Vintage Firestone Freezer

I found this ad on ebay, the freezer looks just like mine. It is 18 1/2 Cu. Ft. and holds 647 lbs of frozen food. Of further note, the gas stove at the lower right appears to be identical to my Western Auto (Wizard) stove. The pic is hard to see but it appears that the knobs and the backsplash...
