    1966 Maytag's First Power-Fin Agitator

Yes,the black agitator washes a bit better. The Power Fin came out, because the flexing reduced strain on the tranny and motor, thus the long long life of the washers! You cannot stuff these machines and expect good results. Of course, that goes without saying. One should not do that anyway and...

    No more filter-chunk dishwashing!!

Vamoose to Vinyl! I do remember that for the last several years of the GM Frigidaires, they finally went to a polypropylene tub and door. Those would be great to have. BTW, that upper rack at least was the coolest!

    G.E. Pureclean dishwasher Pics

Big Lots has the Cascade Complete with Bleach Hydro Clean phosphated for 6 bucks, large size. It is superior.

    Sears Detergent..not so good?

Even liquids could cause problems in cold water, though Tide Cold Water shouldn't, they say. Perhaps these 3-4 Sears folks were using cold water with the Sears powder, I dunno. I use warm or hot, and virtually never use cold. I miss phosphated powders. If powders were phosphated, I'd go back to...

    What is the scoop...

Kewl, thanks! I thought THAT tower just might be the one that could do it.

    Sears Detergent..not so good?

Not A Limestone Cowboy I am not surprised Jason. The Sears powder is loaded with washing soda, which is combining with calcium in hard water forming calcium carbonate AKA limestone deposits. Though many insist that powders are better, I don't agree for this reason. In the 70s, when phosphates...

    What is the scoop...

...on towers in dishwasher? Are there ANY that can somehow clean the undersides of all items in the top rack even when the bottom rack has pots and large bowls on it? Or can only a full sized-full width spray arm under the top rack do it?Anyone's own experience tell the story?

    How White are Your Whites?

This dope and her nasty soap What a joke! That Cascade is enzyme-laden,and those enzymes are killed with chlorine bleach, the amount of bleach plus the 20 minute soak is asking for at least thinned out whites, her homemade soap soup-goop is putting dulling soap and chalk residues into those...

    GE Potscrubber dishwasher

Soaking the affected items in vinegar should remove the offending residue!

    GE Potscrubber dishwasher

The powdery residue happened to me when I tried a non-phosphate powder. It was not undissolved detergent,it was the calcium in the hard water combining with the washing soda forming calcium carbonate(chalk) on the dishes. Check your current package of soap and see-bet it's phosphate free.

    POD 6/14/10

When did Maytags begin to lose any of their reliability? Someone on here said that the early to mid 70s were the MOST reliable. Does that mean the late 70s were not quite as good?

Maybe not a Bob Load But!

I'd be finished with Finish. I found even the phosphated Quantum was detestable. Phosphated Cascade in all forms is FAR superior.

    Scrub the Rubadubdub!

Tell me,does the thick rubber gasket on the old Westinghouse and White-Westinghouse tumbler washers itself get washed as the cycle goes on? If dirty clothes are being pushed in to load and "scrape" against that gasket, hopefully the now "contaminated" gasket gets cleansed. Thanks experts!

    Toggles whitest whites formula. And...

GE- "We bring good things to death!" GE went to the Plastic tub washer design in 1995. It was not DD as many have supposed, but a very small belt. It was unquestionably the most unrelible top loading washer design ever, next to the awful rubber-tubbed Bendix. So far,the HydroWave system has...
