    Better lock up your Tide!

If it is anything like the price of premium brand detergent in the UK, it is a valuble commodity! If you can swipe a pallet load of this stuff and bang it out via Ebay or even at a car boot sale, you would be making some profit!

vintach Hitachi rice cooker.. made in Japan!

I have one of these, almost identical except it is a Sanyo. Not all that impressed with the way these cook rice - there are much better methods in my opinion.

    Water Softners

If you have a mains softener, you can ignore any dosage advice for normal soil. Soft water/light soil is the most you will ever need. The thing with water softeners is that the water is so ridiculously soft that you really need very little detergent at all and it seems alien - I know - I have...

    Water Softners

I have an h-axis top loader so I don't actually know if there are any bubbles on the top of the last rinse water but I have occasionally stopped the machine during the last rinse because I have forgotten to add softener and the water seems pretty clear to me. The softener I have now I had from...

    Water Softners

For a normal soiled load I would use the dosage recommended for soft water and light soiling. It will take a bit of time to get it right but once you do, you will find that all cleaning chemicals last a LOT longer. For example, I am using Daz tablets at the moment and on a normal soiled load, I...

    Water Softners

I thought your question was quite clear - you have a mains softener, the kind you put salt into, right?

    Water Softners

I have a Culligan mains water softener and have had one for years. I use whatever I feel like - liquid, powder, tabs, caps, whatever. You shouldn't need to change any of the products you use. The only difference will be you need to experiment with HOW MUCH you use. Same with dishwashers - I...

    help! servis mk30 supertwin II

I do adore your kitchen - it transported me back to my childhood - the sink inparticular, except the taps. The twin tub, which was used as an extension to the worktops! That is the same Kenwood Chef my mother had all of her married life.

Latest Which results on UK Dishwasher tablets

Interesting results - Tesco Value scoring higher than Finish Powerball All in One. I can endorse the result from the Waitrose Essential Tablets - they are so bad I threw them away and I would never normally do anything like that. At the risk of stating the obvious, the price is per...

Why is picking a paint color so HARD!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! This thread caught my eye because I am having just this problem with my kitchen in so far as I have had a new one fitted. It involved a lot of new plastering so first I have to apply two coats of thin emulsion, which is the easy bit. I am utterly bewildered by the array...

    Advice for UK Dishwasher Users!

Magnum I am also using Aldi's Magnum All in One dishwasher tabs and I can't tell the difference from Finish Quantum. In fact, they seem to leave a great shine to everything that I hadn't noticed before. I used Lidl tabs years ago and didn't like them at all but it sounds like they are a lot...

Bosch Tabletop Dishwasher Not Dispensing Tablet

I always keep the dispenser closed so it stays dry between cycles, avoiding the usual spills etc so when I put the tablet in the dispenser is dry. The door flips open and the tablet falls out. Mine is a full size Bosch so I assume your dispenser is the same.

    Almat detergent

Daz Tablets.... ....were recently rated best performers on Which so I bought some and gave them a go. I have to report that on whites, particularly kitchen linen, table napkins and the like the stain removal has been superb. The fact that it is cheaper than Ariel and Persil was an added bonus!

    '' . . . and I never ever went back.''

I have long since believed that brand names are not always the best value for money and that some budget brands that are as good or suit my taste better. However, like Rob and others, there are some things I won't compromise on although they are are few and far between. Detergent for whites has...

Electrolux pathetic new top loader washer/dryer combo

What amazes me is that this machine ever got into production. There must have been all sort of meetings amongst the design/engineering/marketing people for this thing. Did no one stand up and say what a crock it was? I would have! It is one of the dumbest ideas I think I have ever seen where...

Poor Dishwashing Performance with Soft Water?

I have had a Culligan softener for the last 13 years and have never had a problem with my dishwasher not cleaning properly. If it is down to a timed fill coupled with reduced pressure that might be the problem.

What is it about dishwashers and oatmeal?

Scrambled egg My Bosch is not troubled by oatmeal, up to 5 days dried on however, in common with others, scambled egg sticks like s**t to a blanket, particularly when attached to a silicon spoon/spatula. Needs so much scrubbing with a scouring pad that I don't even bother to put it in the DW!

PRESSURE COOKERS: Love 'em? Hate 'em? Let's go to the poll!

E & H My mother had two and used them almost everyday so grew up with them and so they hold no fear for me - used mine last weekend to cook Christmas puddings - cut over 50% off the cooking time. Love them, almost as much as I love my slow cooker!
