    Worst Laundry Detergent

Daz and Surf I also have to try hard to like Daz and Surf. The last time I used Daz powder I washed a load of formal shirts, mainly white with a very pale blue and pale pink one thrown in, both of which are well past bleeding colour. Regardless, I put a colour catcher in and when I unloaded...

    Worst Laundry Detergent

@aquacycle - as far as Bold is concerned I totally agree. There are a number of detergents I use rarely and Bold is one. Having bought a large box of it some months ago when it was half price at my local Waitrose I can confirm that it is virtually impossible to rinse out and despite initially...

New hotpoints claim to move 100 stains at 20°

Panasonic NA-147VBS My machine has a 20 degree wash and I regularly use it for coloured loads (tee shirts/tops, sweat pants and stuff like that and dark shirts/tops etc to reduce fading. The cycle lasts for about 2 hours and I have never been less than impressed with it. The manual states that...

    Vintage Corination St Washer

Feeling old! I remember that story line in Corrie. Hilda thought she was the queen bee as she was the only person in the street with a washing machine I think. Elsie Tanner made some joke about her putting the armchair through the wash and Stan and Eddie started taking in washing from the...

Am I the only one that notices these things???

The thing that struck me was that the washer was further away from the plumbing (assuming the water supply and drainage is in the vicinity of the sink) and yet the dryer is closer to it. I would have put them in the other way around but it is only an advert I guess!

    Whirlpool American Top Loader

I had the model before this one I think (bought in 1993/4). Was not impressed with it's cleaning ability and given the capacity of FL machines now I would not opt for one of these now. I remember re-dialling the programmer sometimes two or three times back to the beginning of the wash part of...

Brasso: U.S. Product vs. British Product

UPVC Brasso is also very good at helping restore UPVC like windows/doors etc

    BOLD

I happened to be in Morrisons last week and they had Surcare softener reduced to £1 so I bought two. Kind of defeats the object but the amount of suds in the final rinse is absurd. I will probably avoid Bold in the future. So much for a bargain!!

    BOLD

I recently bought a box of Bold detergent as it was on a very special offer that was too good to miss. However, despite 3 deep rinses in my machine there is loads of suds left over and I find that I am having to run another rinse cycle (which on my machine is three deep rinses)to get rid of it...

    Washing Machine Plumbing UK Members

I had a similar situation in a flat I had in Luton many years ago and I bought one of those self tapping things from B&Q. I confess that I was nervous about tapping into the mains water supply especially in a rented property but luckily it was ground floor so no other residents to flood. It...

    Anyone know what this is?

This was recently bought on Ebay but I have no idea what it is other than being a twin tub. It was in my local area but missed out on it. Did someone on here buy it and if so, what is in that box...

    New top loaders

I had h-axis machines from 1999 to 2012 and can't speak highly enough of them. I had various makes, all of them bought off Ebay and everytime I saw another model I fancied I would swap it and sell the old one on, which invariably paid for the next! Servis (2 different models), Hotpoint and...

    Lenor Unstoppable Beads

Old remedies work wonders My old Mum always pre-treated our school shirt collars and cuffs with either a squirt of Fairy Liquid of a rub with a bar of that green soap you have there, which was also Fairy, before they went in the tub. Never used Vanish or Bio Tex etc. When you think of the...

    Lenor Unstoppable Beads

I saw these is Wilkos last week at £6.00 a pop!! Criminal waste of money and another stupid gimmick to make us pour more pointless chemicals into the environment.

Australian Hoover Washer & Dryer Brochures

It was a long time ago................ ....but I remember when I first arrived in Australia the house I rented had a Hoover Top Loader washer called a 'Cadet' - with an impeller rather than a agitator.

    Indesit K5 again

I am guessing this is why twin tubs remained so popular in the UK!!

    Local NYC Supermarket's UK/EU Offerings

No wonder the world thinks that British food sucks if this is the way it is represented overseas!!! Apart from Marmite, which is a sacred foodstuff to be worshipped daily, 99% of that stuff is garbage and I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. I mean, tinned spotted dick and custard powder?? Is...
