    Their SQ FL Washer Died!

Dishwashers Somebody once mentioned to me that they had replaced one of their fitted cupboards with a second integrated dishwasher, so they can load one up as they use the clean dishes from the other, and don't have to bother to put the washing up away! I rather liked the idea, also handy if...

    Their SQ FL Washer Died!

I would guess that's likely to be a fault in the inverter circuit, would be a real shame to toss the machine for the cost of repairing the board, whether or not the owner needs to send it off or can DIY repair it themself. I usually try to find uprated components, when I need to repair one of my...

    Their SQ FL Washer Died!

If it was a premium price and quality machine, then I would have tried to find a reasonable price third party board repair service, if I couldn't find the fault and fix it myself. Likely to be a fair bit cheaper than a new board, or new machine, a new triac or relay costs very little. If the...

Which Canadian grocery chain locks up its carts like ALDI?

Twenty-five cents is cheap for a shopping trolly, that's only about the equivalent of a 20p coin. Here in the UK they are a pound at the shops that use the coin lock trolleys, so 5 times as much. One of the stores I shop at had a couple of people handing out £1 coin tokens to customers for the...

    LG Washer/Dryer 5 year Update

We had a slight leak from our washing machine door which were caused by a trivial amount of limescale on the door glass. Cleaning the glass with a limescale remover cured it. I also polished up the paintwork with some wax polish spray, to try to protect it if/when it leaked again.

    Favorite Bed Sheets?

I've got teddy bear fleece bedding, the duvet and throw are soft warm and great, especially in winter. The fitted sheets and pillowcases are a little disappointing as the pile gradually gets flattened out with use. Previously I'd buy cotton sheets as I don't much like polycotton.

Possibly a polyurethane glass adhesive might be suitable if you don't mind the crack being clearly visible?

ww10t754abt/s2 Broken window, added feature on certain Samsung Add-wash models...

If it were mine, and a clean break, I'd be tempted to try to glue the broken glass with a waterproof heat resistant glass adhesive if I could find one that might be suitable as a temporary bodge and see how it goes, providing the glue failing wouldn't cause the glass to fall out or cause injury...

GE has launched a second, slightly cheaper, combo unit

"I wouldn't touch one of these with a 10 foot pole until they come up with 99.9% sealed lint and dust capture." I would want a current generation one with a self cleaning heat exchanger. Although I'm sure they'll still get clogged with lint and need stripping down eventually. As an owner of a...

GE has launched a second, slightly cheaper, combo unit

I think this does have an element. According to the manual PFQ83HSP/HSS have steam cycles. PFQ97HSP PFQ83HSL PFQ83HSH do not. Page 7...

    Whirlpool Duets for Sale

I'm pretty sure I've read that a sodium percarbonate is supposed to work best at 60°C and above, but sill should be moderately effective even as low as 40°C. Adding TAED converts the hydrogen peroxide released by the PCS to peracetic acid which is a more effective bleach at any temperature, and...

    Whirlpool Duets for Sale

Cold fill Up until somewhere around 20 years ago, it was normal for UK washing machines to have a hot fill and an element, a 40°C synthetics cycle wash on all my previous machines would draw in some cold water, then switch to hot fill, and would turn on the element once the water was over the...

Little History Of Lever Bros./Unilever Brands

Certainly here, the budget end brands seem to market themselves on smell, and the premium stuff for cleaning ability. I think surf and Bold are the most commonly imitated products by supermarkets for their own brand products, with vaguely similar looking boxes and fragrances. I never thought...

Little History Of Lever Bros./Unilever Brands

Surf (Unilever) is one of the cheaper detergent brands in the UK, and big 130 wash (6.5kg) boxes of the powder are quite regularly on offer in discount stores like Farmfoods (currently 3 boxes for £36), and washes well although perhaps not as good as premium brands like persil at removing...

I really like the look of the new Whirlpool Front Loaders

Recirculating pumps "Until sump is clear such recirculating systems will regurgitate whatever mucky or froth laden water is down there, at least for part of fill." Don't forget modern washing machines without a recirculation pump will have a valve such as a ball float to close off the sump to...

I really like the look of the new Whirlpool Front Loaders

Whiffy Washers Some of that moisture will also be absorbed and retained by the residue from liquid detergents etc that gets left stuck to the outside of the drum and insides of the tub after the wash, because some of the common ingredients found in liquid detergents are hygroscopic, such as...

I really like the look of the new Whirlpool Front Loaders

European whiffy washers In the UK we didn't use to have to worry much about keeping washing machines clean, other than leaving the door open, but it was mainly thanks to regular boil washing and using powder detergent. I remember somewhere around the mid 1990s - 2000, seeing an episode of...

    Miele Softener draining too early!

I should have guessed a Miele would be more complicated :) Here's video of the water path selector in service mode from another model.

    Miele Softener draining too early!

If it is a cold fill only machine, I've had a similar problem with my Zanussi years ago that might be relevant. It has only two solenoid valves to fill the three draw compartments. The valves feed water to two crossing jets at the very back of the detergent compartment, directing water into...

Samsung 18/11kg Heat Pump washer dryer UK model!

I can't see oversized machines like this taking any significant market share from standard sized ones in the UK. Will mainly appeal to large families. There might be a bigger market for a wider than 600mm washer dryer that still fits under a standard height worktop, which could be put alongside...
