What's the best cookware for coil element stoves?

"That Amway Queen, or any other waterless cookware sold on home demonstration IE Saladmaster, Townecraft, Vita Craft etc for all of the others I bought a bunch of All Clad on recommendation of others and ended up giving it all away, its miserable to use and the hardest thing to clean ive ever...

Biden admin proposes more stringent efficiency standards

      On the other hand,
Every story has two sides. The DOE admits these new appliance standards will require the industry to invest upwards of $2 billion to comply with them, but counters that the rebates and incentives baked into the Inflation Reduction Act will more than offset...

What's the best cookware for coil element stoves?

You might want to consider choosing cookware that is induction friendly just in case later on you want to get an induction stove. And induction friendly cookware has some iron or steel in the lower surface, so that it captures the magnetic impulses and turns them into heat. Personal note: I...

Will a Heating Element Failure Damage My Oven?

Um, I probably wouldn't use. Wait for the replacement would be my approach. Then again, I've never seen a cracked heating element so what do I know? Since the element is cracked, I'd advise turning off the circuit breakers to the oven before attempting to diagnose what's wrong if...

    Hamburger Buns

While Eddie was doing all that, I got out my meat grinder (an attachment for the Kitchenaid mixer). Used the coarse blade. Then I ground up the raw rib steak that was too gristly for eating. Came out perfect. Browned it in a frying pan with a bit of olive oil, then added it to some Kraft...

    another coffee post

I have a little coffee filter that fits perfectly in my Keurig. I haven't used it for a few years (like 5-10) but I don't see why it's use cannot be resumed. Mainly I want the ability to grind coffee of different types and then utilize the ground coffee in the Keurig. In particular, I'd like to...

    Induction gets even cheaper

I have seen articles that state the cost of converting a home over to heat pumps for heating, cooking, etc will run about $20,000.00. Or more. I'll just continue with my vented gas room and water heating, as well as for cooking. Sounds like someone is trying to make a bundle off this...

    Induction gets even cheaper

Found the article Eddie was referencing (I *think*): Excerpt:
Bush knows all too well the technological limitations of induction for the volume of cooking done in restaurants. Since opening Oso, he’s gone through what he estimates is a minimum of 20 induction cookers. “They...

    Induction gets even cheaper

Eddie, Well, I'd opt for something with controls that have a longer life. Like dials? Good to know the induction part is reasonably long lived.

Not only that, I'm from the generation where induction generally meant having to go to Vietnam to fight yet another corporate war.

    Induction gets even cheaper

Tom, At $6,247.90 per unit, the Volrath induction wok cooker is probably a bit out of most our league. What was Volrath thinking?

    Induction gets even cheaper

Eddie, That's VERY interesting about the short lifespan of induction cooking elements. Something I've never heard of before. Is it because of the heavier usage a restaurant puts a range to? Or is it a problem that home cooks also will encounter, also, I wonder? Surely your local paper...

    Bosch vs Vtg KitchenAid Dishwasher

I've had a KA SxS fridge for about 24 years. No rust on the stainless doors. Then again, no magnet will stick to the doors, either.

    Cleaning a Crock Pot

I was about to say, look for a stainless steel lid that fits. The crock pot won't care much.

    Cleaning a Crock Pot

I'll second the advice to replace the plastic lid entirely with a glass lid. This cooker was probably sold with the plastic lid for cost purposes, and little else.

    Real estate mess

Dan, Yup, you're probably right. At least according to the DOW averages. However as I recall, the Nasdaq and SP500 averages also went down with the recession. The economic slump was likely a major factor in Trump's defeat in the 2020 election.

    Induction gets even cheaper

Also, according to what I've gleaned from CR and elsewhere, an induction cooktop is only about 10% more energy efficient than a resistance type electric cooktop. Furthermore, I coudn't find anything about an "induction oven". My suspicion is that ovens in induction ranges are similar to...
