Using a Maytag electric motor for special project

Ok, sorry, this is out of a washer, not dryer. Connect black and red across 120vac for run winding, and across yellow and blue for start winding. Disconnect white wire. You can reverse polarity of either winding (not both) to reverse direction of rotation. Will provide photo of wiring diagram.

Using a Maytag electric motor for special project

Connect power between red and white wires to run motor. You can disconnect the other wires. Black box has two switches operated by centrifugal mechanism in motor. One switch connects red wire to motor start winding. After motor has started, power to start winding is removed and then red wire...

    whirltag/maypool dryer advice needed

Lack of cool down period would be caused by faulty timer. Timer contacts between timer terminals BK and R open during cool down to open heat circuit. A grounded heater coil would also cause this problem but would also cause heat during air only. Failure of temp selection is likely due to a...

    2009 Kenmore 80 service issue

This washer has the first version of the load sense switch. This is a high failure item in these washers. Place timer in rinse cycle to see if it will fill. This bypasses the automatic temperature control and rules that out as the problem. If still no fill, go to extra rinse setting. This...

Hypothetical question: Can't 110 volt dryer vents/ fan speed be cut way down?

Obviously, you don't know how a dryer works. 240 volts is not power. In a normal full size 240 volt dryer, the heat is not on all the time. There is a thermostat that cycles the heat on/off to maintain proper temperature. Trying to run a full size dryer on 120 volts is going to result in the...

Hypothetical question: Can't 110 volt dryer vents/ fan speed be cut way down?

"Anybody with any experise or thoughts about dryer venting vs. element power operating temperature, and voltage?" You have been given good corroborating advice but had apparently already made up your mind regarding your theory, so whats the point???

Hypothetical question: Can't 110 volt dryer vents/ fan speed be cut way down?

Something you have overlooked is lint buildup. The minimum duct air velocity should be at least 1,200 feet per minute to keep lint moving through the vent, as per UL code requirements. For a 4" diameter pipe, this requires 105cfm of air flow. Whirlpool documentation states that the exhaust air...

Hypothetical question: Can't 110 volt dryer vents/ fan speed be cut way down?

Doesn't matter whether it's gas or electric. Essentially the same diagram and wording is used in their documentation on electric dryers. The holes in your heater box are not "leaks". They are intake vents. If you read again, you will see where it says a portion of the air pulled into the cabinet...

Hypothetical question: Can't 110 volt dryer vents/ fan speed be cut way down?

You are wrong in your thinking about airflow. Proper airflow is essential to proper dryer operation and safety. That's why the hi limit thermostat is on the heater box. Improper airflow and it gets too hot in the heater box and the hi limit will cycle the heat off. Most modern dryers also have a...

Need help with Whirlpool direct drivie washer

Remove the long curved metal piece, that is the latch. The 6-pad clutch is available as part number 3953062 however I have a Whirlpool document that seems to indicate that the 3-pad clutch is the better of the two? Clutch Band Assembly Revision [L-238 / 4322209 / May 1997] FOR DIRECT DRIVE...

Need help with Whirlpool direct drivie washer

You would have to open the gearcase, take the spin gear off and remove the latch from the neutral drain plate. Replace spin gear and your done, no more neutral drain. Don't know what your plans are for the clutch but it is designed to slip at beginning of spin cycle. It doesn't have anything to...

    MAYTAG TWO-BELT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

Yes, thanks for that correction. The service manuals list them as steel and bronze clutch washers that take two to three rotations before the oil is squeezed out from between them and they lock up. That's rotations of the input shaft, not necessarily the tub as the tub isn't going to do much...

    MAYTAG TWO-BELT TRANSMISSION QUESTION

There is a spin clutch and it's right there in the first photo of this thread. It's inside the transmission and consists of one stationary washer disc and one rotating washer disc. When the drive pulley rotates and climbs the transmission input shaft the pulley radial bearing pushes up on and...
